Black Badge Ontario?

Ok, so obviously there is tension between a few individuals.

If my recolection of the IPSC policies is accurate, I believe this can only be settled one way.
Break-dance off.
Old school rules
We'll get David Bowie to be the judge.

Its the only way.

lol IPSC Ontario just bin served!! :)

I've shot CQB and have been shooting pistol for a couple of years now and amazingly have never shot myself!...(it's amazing how things work when you keep your finger out of the trigger!!). The fact that I have to spend $200 and blow 500 rounds of ammo to prove that I can safely holster my firearm is ludicrous, it should cost significantly less and use less ammo, this is just another money grab.

Then you didn't shoot enough. I am an ipsc member since 2009 and range officer since 2010 and I've seen some awkward moments. If you think that $200 is too much money, then you are in the wrong sport.

Ive been really wanting to do my BB course to join IPSC, just haven't had any luck in registering on time as apparently these courses fill up wicked quick.. But , is there really this much drama goin on for IPSC Ontario?

Is it behind the scenes or in plain view where members are being affected?

as with anything, its as visible as you want it to be.

99% of the membership shoot their matches and have fun.
the rest like to envelop themselves in it, and see everything.

Sometimes the "drama" overflows onto forums such as this.

IPSC (and any competitive shooting sports) are awesome and all gun owners should at least try them at some point.

This exactly.

By that logic... The bb course could easily cost $500... Cause after all, if everything else is costly, why shouldn't the entry cost be?

The way I see it is that the BB coordinator had an issue with Alex and couldn't do much about it last year because it would have been Mike/Pat vs. Alex/Simar/Shane for board approval of removing Alex as a BB Instructor. This year with the board being primarily anti-Alex it was easy for the BB coordinator to use the fine print to settle his personal issue with Alex.

I could see if the BB bank account was empty the remittance being and issue, I could also see if the money never showed up but what I can't see is that the decision was made even though Alex notified people he would be out of the country and remit the money once he got back.

So what does all of this have to do with this thread? Well if you look at the fact that Alex was running 20 people a month through the BB course before all this happened, we know that he brought a lot of value in for IPSC. At this point nobody has filled that void even though I was assured by several members of the board that BB courses would be available. Where are they? That's why we have threads like this.

Interestingly enough, even though the board is mostly anti-Alex and I am sure condoned his removal as a BB instructor, if you single any of them out individually they are quick to throw the BB coordinator under the bus and claim that it is his sole decision and the IPSC Ontario constitution prevents them from be able to reverse any decision he makes. Amazing what you hear when you single any of them out.

edit: everything I have said in this thread is my own opinion or observations, strictly mine.

^^^^^^^This is about as right as it gets. You take one of the best most well liked instructors and toss him and then toss a wrench into every ones schedule who was signed up to take the BB course. I wish that when I had taken mine it would have been Alex who was my instructor, not the dink that I got. He canned me the night before saying he had over booked, I showed up anyways and told him that he screwed up and that he was gonna fix it. Good thing to as he had one person who did not show. I always thought that it was better to have strength in numbers as that's what this sport needs here in Canada. I run a small business, and depend on other people to help me get thru it. Sometimes stuff screws up and people make mistakes, and you deal with it. I got a guy that I could have fired four times, but I needed him so he is still here. I mean it's not like he had a donor kidney in a cooler and never made the delivery. Everybody just wants to wash there hands. What a joke this is.
Opinions are like A*!#^*@s, every one has one and this is mine.

RE black Badge course; I took it over a year ago. Learned lots, good instructor, worth the effort and ammo, and money. Passed and did well thanks to the IPSC ers at my then home club, advice, encouragement and all that good stuff. Got to understand how the rules work and what they mean.
As a super senior I suggest it to anyone serious about handgun shooting and gun games in general.
The BB has opened other shooting events to me and made me welcome because of the respect it is held.
