Bear was taken by my Tikka T3 300wm with winchester 180 gr soft point at around 40 yards, he ran about 20 yards and start moaning.

My guide set me up with an ozonics and the bear came straight to sniff my scent and licking his nose several times towards me but don't know if I am a threat or not and I decided to take him when I have a shot worrying he may not be stick around much longer whether if I was busted or not.

And the boar start moaning around 0:08 mark

Congrats on the bear, where were you hunting?
Thank you Rod,

I was hunting for a week in New Brunswick (guided) but took this bear on the second day, saw one the first day but it's a sow and I let her go ( I prefer take drakes only even when duck hunting ) lol.

Congrats Spcamno on the Bear and cut tag.
what are your plans with the hide ?
Rug or chest mount?
Thanks for sharing the events.
Rob
Thanks Rob,

I am thinking of tanning the hide because after some research any decent rug mount is not cheap and a full mount will probably cost me an arm and a leg lol.

Do you have any suggestion on taxidermist can tan the hide for a reasonable fee?

Congrats and a great bonus to have it on video

Thank you!

Yes, I bought a tree mount camera arm to mount my Panasonic camcorder so I can zoom in for a better view.

I also made a mount myself to mount my Ricoh WG-M2 on the rifle but couldn't take the recoil, it fell off after one round lol.

The is the view from my stand overlooking at the bait site:

These two were taken right after we brought it out from the bush, my guide Brent fabricated a hoist system to fit onto his receiver hitch on his Honda utv and it works wonder, save our back big time as he just back onto where the bear dropped and use the electric winch to hoist it up after its dressed.

This is my guide Brent in NB:

Congrats on a nice bear.

Thanks and I was following your hunting story on OOD forum!

Did you end up getting something this Spring?

I am glad that I found Greenhorn (Brent) at OOD and he is an awesome guy (and guide) lol and I was using the Ozonic that Skeeter built for Brent last year and I am now sold on these machine!

I had a decent amount of activity at my baits but my gout flared up and I was unable to hunt the last two weeks of the season - so round 2 in the fall. The joys of too much meat and beer as you get old.

Yeah, I hear you.

My dad has gout problem as well and he told me it is very painful when gout attack.

Not sure if its truth or not but someone told me Tart Cherry juice (sour cherry) help ease joint inflammation / gout attack bought my dad some and he said it helps a bit may be worth trying.

Thanks!

I did throw some on the grill this past weekend and it taste pretty good actually.

May be I overcooked a little but worrying if bear meat is not cooked properly there is a possibility of getting trichinosis.

This is crappy cell phone video from my stand:

Wow, did you ever flip him over with the Winmag. Nice work man!!

Thanks for your kind words!

Actually I did blow him up and this is a pic from where I found him 20 yards from where it was shot (sorry for the crappy cell phone pic again).

His chest was wide opened and some internal organs were hanging out and Brent had a friend of his came over to chat (he is a game warden in NB) and I show him the video he said when a bear rolls that means it was hit pretty good and he only moaned twice after he was shot (I turned off my camcorder and 5 seconds later I heard him moan that's why I turn the camcorder back on to record: part two of the video).

This is the rifle used in this mission:

You can see the cheap action cam mount made by me but it couldn't take the recoil of a 180gr 300wm it fell off after first round (lol).

Other pics were taken around Christmas 2016 when I received the bolt back from an awesome member here Scotty454 who fluted my bolt and I did re-mount the scope and level it again everything.

The lens cover looks like its touching the barrel but its not.

Pretty tough animal to moan twice with his organs hanging out. Sounds like he went pretty quick though. I love your BBQ pics and yes, I would definitely make sure it's fully cooked. Trichinosis is a horrible experience I hear.

Where did you get your camera and mount? I'm also interested in recording from my stand.
