Just to clear the air on the PAL check process, we only require the PAL number and DOB to make sure the PAL is valid, after that we just note the online account as having a valid PAL and when it expires. We do not store any more information than needed for this process.

The policy is implemented most for locking blocks and trigger housings for the most part. These are currently the parts that we see the most amount of illegal traffic on.

Because of crap like this one day we will need PALs to buy barrels, mags and other crap. Horrible policy.

Sorry for the wake up call folks. If these parts end up in criminals hands with reckless abandon, it will fast track those types of policies regardless. We aren't going to stand here and do nothing and give the government more ammunition to push these types of regulations and legislations forward.

For actual firearm parts, I don't see a problem with this.

My issue is when another vendor (WCH) wants you to email a photo of your credit card and PAL card to buy a scope. That's way offside.

Showing valid ID is fine, but recording of such ID is not ok. In this modern day, privacy is paramount, and we are slowly loosing it all (Vax pass anyone?).
Say goodbye to "unregulated" anything from now on, and this has nothing to do with legality/safety but eventual total disarmament and control.

Mark our words, if we do not apply a small amount of discretion and self police there will be wide spread regulation change on parts that's aren't currently controlled. 3D printed guns are on the rise and law enforcement are aware of them, be objective and understand that accessibility will be the first thing they attack. Importing parts and firearms are already hard enough as a business, we don't need more regulations making importations and servicing the consumer more difficult.

If you can't handle being inconvenienced, take your business somewhere else. No need to make a thread to whine about it. Especially if there's a lack of critical thinking involved.

They're well within their rights to make sure you're not a criminal. Just as you are within your rights to cancel your order. It's a not a bloody travesty.

Blackbox has taken their position to uphold a standard of their choosing
If you're not on board, too bad, their morals outweigh the mighty dollar

Nothing wrong with a thread. Clarified things for a lot of us and gave an open forum to a business to explain their thinking rather thana bunch of whispering misinfo cutting into their business.

I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago at Triggers and Bows .... I was buying a couple of their T-shirts and the guy at the counter asked me for my PAL. When I refused, and asked why he needed my PAL to purchase a t-shirt, he told me it was store policy! I refused and told him where he shove the shirts and asked to see the mangler. Manager arrived and OK'd the purchase without any PAL. By this time I didn't want anything to do with them. I can't help but wonder how many customers provided their PAL!

I have made probably 100+ purchases from Triggers and Bows and have never once encountered such a thing. I have also had non gun owner friends go in there to get stuff (coffee, clothes, targets, knives, flashlights) and have never once had such an issue. When did this happen to you and what did the employee look like ?

Yes Nailed, so do you want to follow Black Box's policy or have it forced upon you by a Government Agency in the future? It's not unreasonable.

I support Black Box's policy, they are a good shop.

A stand up company, that offers outstanding services to the community for years, operating in a difficult political environment. Not much else to discuss in my mind, thay have done some great work for me in the past, and I am sure they will do so on the next commission. (Which will be in the mail tomorrow!)

The OP posting epitomizes what is wrong in social media and the press generally, a poorly described headline, that acts as click bait with little substance behind it. Most reasonable people pick up a telephone and have a conversation, not now it would appear. Blaze on.....

Candocad.

You have to remember that there are those who distrust any govt or organization that might find something out that would be catastropic.. These tend to be the ultra rights who line up with Qanon in the south. Most of us aren't cut from that cloth.

This is normal. Grow up, folks.
Nobody's doing anything shady with your information, my goodness.

Hate the fraudsters out there, not small local dealers that aren't out here making millions or anything. They can't afford to take a big hit. Send the information in once and you're good to go.

Hell.. before 420 was legal everyone ordered it online and even those ILLEGAL shops would make you send in multiple pieces of ID.. lol..

So dramatic. We're all supposed to be adults here.

"You don't need to be a PAL holder to purchase this uncontrolled item, but we require it just in case the government may in the future" is the same as "you don't need to be vaccinated in order to eat here, but we're requiring it in case the government may in the future."

If you think that inadvertently selling an uncontrolled item to a gang member or a potential "mass shooter" will drive further nails into the coffin, you're wrong. Those who hate civilian gun owners will continue to hate civilian gun owners and the ruling elite will take advantage of their inability to process information. If there is anyone capable of critical thought then they will come to a logical conclusion with or without help. But to make the statement that "we're all going to be good boys on our best behaviour so the government will leave us alone" is incredibly disingenuous to those who are gullible enough to fall for that asinine belief. You cannot talk your way out of getting murdered just the same as you cannot behave your way into being treated fairly by the government.

No amount of checking PALs to prevent 3D printing will keep your community safe. Gun owners will be in the crosshairs until they are all disarmed, though after seeing how much praise some of you give law enforcement it seems that your cognitive dissonance welcomes you being disarmed. Do you really believe Trudeau and Blair, themselves, will be knocking on your door come confiscation?

BBC did some great cerakote work for me recently, but I will not give my support or money to a company that takes measures, however good intentioned they may be, to further restrict ownership of items that I believe should be completely unregulated.

I personally don't card if BBC needs my PAL to buy pistol parts. Not the end of the world and they are one of the best gun suppliers is Canada with a unique business model. They don't just sell guns and parts...they make anything you can dream up a reality.

Black Box has been a pleasure to deal with. Always a good experience.
If you think you can do a better job at running a business, maybe you should start your own.

I remember the days before snowflakes, when if you disagreed with a stores policies you just went to a different store. Now we rally the troops and post inflammatory stories.
