I'll ask again, except this time expand it from Shawn to everyone:
What is the proposed solution?

The answer stays the same, stop illegally collecting personal information

People will drop from the sport as a result of showing a pal.....?

They will, when the have to defend themselves from criminal charges resulting form their PAL and other personal information being lost to a data breach from a company that illegally collected that information and did not safe guard it as per the law.

We don't close the gap. If the government wants to pass laws and restrict access to certain things, then thats on them to ensure it happens, not private businesses. If the government wants to mandate that businesses check PALs for every firearm related purchase then so be it - its going to happen eventually in this country. BBC is taking matters into their own hands to subvert the manufacture of illegal firearms by requiring verification of certain purchases, that's their policy and its fine. I and many others will not be supporting a businesses that curtails efforts to make access to firearms by peaceful people more restricted.

Lol... the curtailed effort or "inconvenience" is asking for PAL validation on parts that are used primarily for ghost guns? (in this scenario)
You're ok with the Government having to step in and make laws??(as they do when a bunch of people screw things up for everyone else or whine about something long enough)
But shame on Black Box Customs for stepping up to do something proactive about this problem. Right? A problem most law abiding, legal and responsible firearms owners should have nothing to worry about... we should at the very least, exercise a little more trust and patience with the businesses that deliver to firearms owners in this Country.

LOL

So much for being law abiding gun owners right?

Or does that only count when they follow the laws you like, but does not count when the break the ones that dont conform to your agenda?

We've paused the past few days to consider the conversation in this forum and gather our thoughts as a company. There were some questions being asked and some comments made here that questioned our business practices and in some cases, even our integrity. All of which is fine; we believe in open discussion, dialogue, and feedback; it's how we grow and become a better business and allows us to more ably serve our customers. There were some questions that were beyond our scope of knowledge and we had to refer them to our legal team. After some deliberation we wanted to set a number of things straight.

1. Yes, we do a one time ID/confirmation of customers’ identities for certain purchases. This is due to the recent increase in fraudulent purchases that have led to illegal firearms investigations.

2. No, we do not PAL check every single purchase with reckless abandon. We only check those flagged transactions which follow similar purchasing patterns as previous fraudulent purchases.

3. No, we do not keep or store your full PAL information on a database, nor do we have any desire to do so. We request that information purely for verification. If you are uncomfortable with doing so by email, CALL US INSTEAD and we can do the verification over the phone with no record of it ever being created electronically.

4. No, we are not collecting customers' PAL information and creating a registry for gun parts. Again we have zero, repeat, ZERO desire to do something like that.

5. Yes, we acknowledge that our process before was not entirely refined and left room for interpretation. We are in the process of rolling out a new privacy policy along with a procedure for verifying potential fraudulent purchases.

6. Yes, we will continue to provide Canada with firearm parts as well as firearms and the modification services upon which we have built our national reputation with the MIL/LE community, serious firearms competitors and gun enthusiasts alike.

7. Yes, you have the right to vote with your mighty dollar and shop wherever you please.

We will be closing this thread down, as we believe that we have left it open long enough for everyone to get their points across and we have taken all of them into consideration. If you have any more concerns please reach out to us via email at Sales@blackboxcustoms.com and we will gladly assist you.
