blackfeather stock arrived!

I am working on a folding adapter now but I would look at the Ace Ltd. folding adapters. They are excellent. I hope that helps.

I have tried adapters from Ace and found them to be less beefy than what I want. My favorite folder design is the on on my Daewoo AR 100 (K2). For now, I'll go with a fixed or adjustable LOP butt stock and wait to see what you come up with.

Thanks

Happy to see a new build coming together! Looking forward to a range report especially and more photos! Today I spent some time discussing the next iteration of our first hand guard purpose-built for Blackfeather. Looking forward to putting it out there... . I also learned recently that the venerable Troy Battlerail is 100% compatible with Blackfeather with no modification. Another fantastic option to consider. Cheers!

A purpose built hand guard would be awesome. I had to take off the utg rail that I had on there previously to fit the stock. The Troy would not allow your casm mount to work so that is out of the question for me. Realistically, the guard that I would really want is the ultimak. If I could make a request it would be to mimic the ultimak style. I love the low profile look, Also the lighter the better.

My black feather arrived the other day can't wait to get it put together sadly I have to wait for a gunsmith to do it for me as I don't feel comfortable doing it. Maybe if there was a step by step video I'd do it Hint hint lol. Ill have some pics up soon as she's done. Does anyone else have a Springfield in a black feather or are they all m305s

My Blackfeather sporting a 5/30 round magazine from Canstar Arms, a Turner AWS sling and a Fenix TA30 with a KZ flashlight mount...this is my table at the Victoria Gun Show Saturday. I had about 60 or 70 people pick up the Blackfeather. Thanks for stopping by my table. I had a good time.

What are you using for a front sight unit on your rifle

I'm not a fan of the Norinco front sight / flash suppressor, and want to replace it with something shorter

Problem though is I will need something like you have for a new front sight

Is the front sight pictured some new future product

Great review. I'm planning on putting together a review of my own when my rifle is fully built. I'll be able to give the perspective of a complete novice and gun noob. Very pleased so far. The only "difficulty" I had with the install was my barrel boss on my norc barrel was too large and needed to be sanded down with the included emery cloth. Hungry generously helped me install the USGI gas assembly and was impressed by the stocks fit and finish. Stay tuned for a full review with pics.

So far my rifle build is:
Norc M14 action with Norc op rod and norc flash hider (for now)
Blackfeather stock with Op rod guide and spring guide
CASM mount (with Warne QR rings and Hi-Lux CMR on the way)
USGI trigger group, M14doc match conditioned, crisp as a winter morning.
Sadlak oversize mag release
tubbs CS hammer spring and Op spring
USGI Gas assembly, smooth as butter
Hogue AR grip
Magpul CTR with enhanced pad on a Vltor tube
I've also shimmed the gas assembly

I've kept track of cost and had a lot of fun learning about the internal workings and do it yourself gun smithing. All of that and the rifle without the scope is still cheaper than buying a Springfield M1A standard. I have a few upgrades I plan on doing. The bolt release is a great addition, as well I'd like to upgrade the flash hider. Somewhere down the line a new bolt and barrel would really make this a high quality rifle.

I think for now though, I'm safe from my d*ck falling off.

^^ It looks like I am going to have another rifle to be jeolous of...but...that is Blackfeather's greatest strength: real component interchangeability, a different rifle each time from the same platform stock. For those that may not know, Blackfeather allows you to swap out the rear butt stock adapter for A. a Low butt stock adapter (low enough for irons but higher than the original M14 stock comb for optics) B. a High butt stock adapter (for scopes only) C. (eventually) a Folding butt stock adapter. The exchange of back ends is important as this feature allows you to run an M14 configured for irons, a red dot or scopes at the right height for each type of irons/optics setup. And to simplify the take-down/maintenance, Blackfeather requires removing just "1" large Grade 8 frame bolt from the 4140 HTSR steel op rod guide (using your M14 dissassembly tool). This also means that you can swap M14 "uppers" simply and quickly and not affect zeroed optics. Coming soon you will also be able to run a low, short hand guard (in production) and a high hand guard/fore end rail (in development) (or the Troy Battlerail now) and again, take advantage of 1 bolt take down with zeroed optics unaffected. Lots more to do and a lot more "new" features coming that will be "Blackfeather" only so you can be confident that by investing in this platform, you are going to see some of the most innovative M14 platform development. Our muzzle brake and height adjustable front sight will be coming before Christmas, for example, but there is a lot more to look forward too.

Are there any more objective range reports? The rifleman one wasn't bad but he didn't show any of his groups. So far, only one person has shown their groupings. I want to see the accuracy. I am considering this stock.
