Anyone familiar with this shotgun? Wondering when it was built .

They are actually falling block guns rather than rolling block guns. They were made from 1868 to 1898 by the Hopkins and Allen Manufacturing Company and from 1898 to early 1900's by Hopins and Allen Arms Company. I believe there were 3 frame sizes for .22, centerfire rifle and shotguns. I had a medium frame one as a rifle but found it extracted the shell only a short distance.

Couple of short guns...

Top is the Pedersoli Queen Anne ca 1730, with silver-plated trigger guard, gargoyle butt cap and side plate. .50 cal, characteristic "cannon" barrel

Bottom is Spanish repro of a basic martial/sea service ca 1810, .45 cal

Have no idea how anybody actually hit anything with one of these... (least I sure don't... :lol: ) Can't believe many died in duels... :?

Thanks, I think its a real cherry, AA finish, extra fancy wood, and bone & charcoal.
Its a new MVA soule rear sight, midrange I think, with a regular Hadley eyecup.
The front sight is a Baldwin, and its also set up for a scope.
I got it for $2600 US, the sights alone would cost a grand up here after extortion, I mean taxes.
I just ordered a Paul Jones 420 grain creedmoor mold, and I've got 200 postells ready to go.
I'll let you give her a try when we hook up sometime.

I think when you see it in person you may change your mind about shooting it, but you are right it is too perdy. I was very lucky to find it. 8 months ago.
I'm really curious about who originally had it built.
The more I read about these rifles, and long range bpcr shooting, the more I realize whoever had it built really knew his stuff.
When I bought it I also bought its custom dies, and 140 brand new cases for $200 US
