What's with the trigger lock on the flinter? Antique long guns are exempt from the storage regulations, except that they have to be stored unloaded.

I use my guns for trigger lock storage otherwise I would have those things laying all over the place and would never be able to find them. :wink:

Why do Americans call every firearm a Weapon?That sounds ####ing stupid!

I suspect that many Americans call firearms "weapons" because a lot of them have served in the military and that is the term employed for their personal firearm (weapon). Many transfer the military term over to every day usage - that's my take on it anyway. this reason probably applies to more than a few Canadians as well.

Grant R is right the Southern Mountain Rifle with the interchangable locks is no longer made by Dixie. However, Track of the Wolf has a kit that is <as far as i can see identical" . Very nice rifel but it won't shoot straight with less then 80 grains of powder!

This is my wife's newest addition, 50 cal Isaac Hayes Lancaster County, 38" swamped Getz barrel 1 in 66 twist, Siler lock,cast off curly maple stock, built by Bob Kirk Cranbrook BC, who did an excellent job on the carving, silver inlays,and engraving, even engraved her name on the backplate for the lock.
It is without a doubt the nicest holding rifle I've handled.

What I'm having built.

This is exactly the same as the rifle I'm having built by Shiloh Sharps.
Its a 45-110 cal. Long range express with a 34" heavy oct. barrel Shiloh's top wood, and oil. It also has a checkered stock blued screws, sling swivels accent line bone & charcoal on receiver & butt-plate.http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

45 Cal Flintlock From A Newbie

NOT SURE IF WE CAN GET PICS TO SHOW UP. THIS IS A CUSTOM BUILT FLINTLOCK BUILT BY BRUCE BURNHAM. IT HAS TIGER STRIPED MAPLE STOCK IT HAS A SILER LOCK AND A COLE RAIN BARREL. JUST NEW TO THE FLINTLOCK BLACKPOWDER WORLD, LIKE IT VERY MUCH, GOT A LOT TO LEARN.

Nessy's jaw must be on the floor. Your wife's gun is just amazing. 240 hrs that is one long time to wait for a gun to be built. But I guess I could wait for that gun.

Well, a fave BP gun..thats kind of hard to say...I have never met a gun I didn't like. Here it goes.

2. M1873, Trapdoor, standard Infantry rifle, 45-70.
Note; RattleSnake Jack would know these guns suince we have been shooting together for nearly 25 years...or more...isn't that right RSJ?
