^good luck getting a custom with a straight pull action that can change calibers

Didn't know the rifle could change calibers. I did know they were straight pull which is neat but not $3500 neat unless the caliber selection is huge and a replacement barrel isn't worth an arm and a leg.

Nothing against those builders, but those aren't custom rifles and you won't find an actual custom rifle for much under $10k. Slapping an aftermarket stock and barrel on a Rem 700 action doesn't make it a custom. Blasers probably start at around $3500.

If its not coming off the shelf then to me its custom or semi-custom.

the only reason some like them in Europe is not for the sake or like of them but only because to bypass firearms regulations. one frame and 6 barrels count for one only ... where some countries allowed only 6 rifles so you can do whatever you want about it but this is a modular tool .... forgot to add merkel, heym, blaser, sauer or mauser are all german rifles .... not they are bad but only again if someone is ready for the changes in regulations ...

we can still get two or three rifles fully equipped for the price of one if someone need to do the maths ...

I have an r8 nowadays as my r93 was stolen anyhow 3 barrels and I love it been contemplating getting another complete rifle to round out the collection I've found them to have excellent accuracy outstanding trigger and very predictable
Cheers Tony

That's for an optic mount that has absolutely repeatable return-to-zero, and attaches without tools to any Blaser barrel, no intermediate rail required. If you have a few separate barrels or guns and need to outfit each one with a high-quality Pic rail, and then buy a set of quality return-to-zero rings to mount on your scope...how much will that cost?

I'm not questioning the engineering and manufacturing elegance.

Apparently now I'm in a big doubt about value of work I do and money I make, which do not allow me to enjoy this engineering and manufacturing elegance without thinking about these price points:

$1.5K USD for a basic barrel. $2K for semi-weight. Drop in replacement yes, I got that. I don't get $2K usd part.

I'll show myself out, thank you.

No one's been forcing you to buy one, they make guns nowadays at price points for everyone to enjoy.

No offence intended, I was just pointing out that the price is not that much higher than competing hardware that doesn't offer all of the same advantages and benefits. I don't know about the R8 barrels, but the last two R93 barrels I've purchased have been less than $1200 each.

There are numerous members on CGN who will roll their eyes and gasp at the price of a rifle like a Blaser, Merkel, Sauer, etc...but they have no problem lining up a dozen or two essentially identical Rugers or Remingtons or Winchesters in their gunsafes...despite the fact that they are no better equipped for their hunting and shooting needs by doing so and have spent more money in the process.

My R9s with hand loads 7mm mag 150 gr barnes are hole in hole at 100 yards and aprox 1.5 inch at 500 yards . Best trigger in the world and i own a Calvin elite on a custom . There not hotrods but damn are they accurate .

I'm not a hunting rifle guy but good Lord that is pretty...I find myself continually coming back to look at it...

Yes, I'm very fortunate and that's how I feel.....and I get to go to the safe to look at it.....

It's a K95 Stutzen Attache......in 7x57R......Grade 9 wood, which I got to pick, although not in person. Waited 9 months after ordering, but was worth it.
