Blaser R8 going 22LR!!

Hey guys,

I didn't really think this would be a rimfire post being as the R8 is mostly a centerfire rifle. I haven't seen anything really on here or in Canada.

Been calling around, but anyone else find out if dealers in Canada are carrying them yet? This would mean I could really lighten my safe now for that one stock, one trigger, more practice concept I love.

I have a Blaser R8 chambered for the 7mm Rem. Mag., my third Blaser. They are an awesome rifle and most unique in design. You will not regret owning a Blaser!

seems there are a LOT of Canadian dealers that sell Blaser...I just Googled Blaser R8 Canada and there are a lot of options.

Ya I have tried a fair amount, all say awaiting to see- including Calgary there, as they are usually my first go to for Blaser stuff

Two questions:

What took them so long?

Is there a 22mm fluted barrel?

Now there is a question to be answered for the 22mm!

I know in a few videos/articles I've read is that they wanted the improvement over the 93 22LR as many found flaws in it.

Ya I keep looking at all the US sights with them in stock and debate heavy on just importing it. Though like you mentioned-usually our retailers are a wee bit cheaper if not on par.

True- but that's not your hunting rifle, long range rifle, and plinking rifle all in one. Thats why I look at it to complement the rifle I have

How so? It's no larger or heavier than most of the top shelf .22's on the market currently.

The dimensions are beefy and while it may feel good chambered for a heavy centerfire cartridge, it is hardly a top shelf platform for a rimfire rifle... the ergonomics are... well, "clunky." JMO, not trying to kick anyone's puppy.

I get why someone who already owns the platform would want the Rimfire set-up, but when considering the rifle as a new acquisition, I do not think the rimfire configuration is much of a draw. I would vastly rather have a second rifle, that is properly scaled to a rimfire action.

Fair enough. I'll certainly wait to see one in person and the associated price tag before I commit, but I'm hopeful.
