Blast from the past!

Not having owned or even shot one, how were the Norinco guns? Same as all their other garbage or was it a serviceable gun that could be relied on to work and hit target with?
The steel in earlier receivers were known to have been stronger/better quality than Springfield. It was a popular build project; buy the gun for the receiver, swap out the barrel, iron sights ( Italian Garand were popular and cheap ) and trigger.
