If it happens to be a plasma based sputtering procedure let me know, I think these easily have the metal switched...I may want to plate a gun with niobium. I can supply the niobium.

If I sent a pistol slide, would it not have to have a gunsmith remove and re-attach the sights?

they are easy to remove with a drift, but we want them sent ready to plate, as we do not have the staff for extra work.

From what I've been reading it's done the same way but with a different formula than traditional chrome. Are you guys using three layers in your plating process?... copper, nickel and then chrome? It would just be a different recipe for the black chrome finish. Beautiful, durable black mirror finish with more depth than custom bluing. I don't have a "pony in this race", but many plastics can be plated effectively. (not that I'd ever do that to a gun in a million years) The process is called "vacuum metalizing" if memory serves. It's the process used in headlight housings, reflective finishes on fishing lures, plastic/sheet mirror, etc. It's said to be extremely durable, but the amount of "bling" depends entirely on how smooth the surface of the plastic. I've only held a Glock once, and I remember the surface being finely textured.
