If all the OP wanted to achieve was a 10 minute period before the commencement of the matches to allow the firing of fouling shots, there may have been a better way to approach this than an arrogant, condescending, whinethread on the 'net.
No living - or recently dead - TR shooter can beat me, and I always win. I wouldn't want to be uncivilized or unsportsmanlike![]()
That is a pretty bold statement. Are you talking about a TR shooter using a .308 and you using an open caliber ie a 6.5x28 et al. Of course you will, just like a Chevette won't win the Daytona 500 either. All things equal which the way imho it should be, let the shooter be the difference and not the caliber.
er...I think he was talking about an entirely different "open calibre"

Slavex, since admittedly you dont compete in F Class, I am left to assume that is why you have such a muted appreciation for the point I'm making here and perhaps it's best you stick to airsoft, paintball or whatever it is that you do know.
Jerry,
My rifle really started shooting well when I adopted my current thourough cleaning routine. I examine the bore and clean until I am certain it is absolutely free of copper. The consequence of that is the unpredictability of the first few shots. Once that first layer of copper builds up on the rifling after those few shots, everything settles down real nice, but it seems to throw the occasional flyer later in the day. I've never gone to the trouble of counting exactly how many rounds that takes and there may be some middle ground somewhere, I dont know. I guess I just like what I've been doing because it has worked for me all this time.
Should of bought a Kreiger!![]()
That's the whole point. If you have a clean barrel Friday night, how do you bring a fouled barrel Saturday morning. Drive 120km round trip to my home range to shoot 3 shots. Anybody who has used a chronograph knows the first shot is 70fps slow and the next couple come up to the average.

It would be very, very easy for match organizers to provide a short period for the firing of fouling shots prior to the commencement of competition. No targets. The only sighters would be those provided for IAW match conditions.
There would no doubt be many shooters who would take advantage of the opportunity to fire fouling shots. Not only new wave, innovative F Open class shooters, but tradition bound, reactionary TR shooters as well.![]()
