Got a little hammer happy on some lower receiver roll pins, any way to blue / blacken the aluminium short of cerekote?

Bluing reacts with the iron in steel, aluminum is non ferrous. Birchwood Casey sells Aluminum Black but I've never had anything but crappy results. It leaves a flat black residue like carbon from a match, it wipes right off. Careful masking and some krylon flat black is usually what I use for small touch ups.

The frame is anodized aluminum.

It's a loosing battle keeping a firearm in like-new condition. Anyway, IMHO, a work gun should like a work gun, kinda like a work truck :p

That's what I was trying to remember. Birchwood Casey's! Thx. Too bad you had crappy results. Maybe I'll just spray it, or beat it up

The Aluminum black needs a few coats. The make up of the aluminum will decide how the black turns out.
