Boiled vs double boiled linseed oil

Thanks for all the info, but i think I need to clarify a few things. This is for a new musurp stock from Boyd's. I.e. a Garand. So I'm trying to stay towards "original" type finishes with less shiney/gloss look.

BLO and tung oil where used on Garands among other military rifle during that time period.
I just tried to "match finish" some new Boyds front & top wood to a WW11 stock and you need to decide if your going for an original 'as built" Garand or a WW11 stock that has been "patina'd" by years of usage & weathering plus years of old soaked in lubing oils and probably a couple lengthy durations of being coated & shipped in a Cosmoline solution that puts its own "signature color" into every wood stock it touches.
if your wanting the later, your gonna have to spend some time at a good hardware choosing a penetrating wood dye/stain. in my case the WW11 stock was so stained & dried over the years that any oiling would be an un-natural look so I just stained & dried 3 coats until it "sort of matched" as close as I could get...no oil used.
