Bolt action blowup at Silverdale on weekend?

Sorry... I thought this was the same incident that occurred when the shooter tried to ram a second round into the chamber when there was already one there!

All of my rifles hold 1 round in the chamber, aren't they all designed that way? A.C.T.S and P.R.O.V.E. I have never been to a range that only allows 1 round, what a crock of sh!t. I pay membership fees at my range to go exercise my rights to own and shoot non-restricted weapons, I would love to see some "anti" POS try to tell me how to operate my personal property. They would look funny trying to pick up thier teeth with broken fingers. Win64 if you don't feel safe, or don't have the smarts to operate a rifle or shotgun with more than 1 round you better call moncton and put in a public safety concern about yourself.

It was a 300 win mag. The gun was a Model 70 bolt action. He was shooting re-loads someone had made up for him. The round was probably double charged or way too hot for his gun. The barrel blew right off. The receiver, bolt, and scope shattered into fragments and hit the benches around him, and blew a few holes in the roof. He had a few bits of steel in his hand, and got a few stiches. Could have been much worse. I saw the marks and holes today, and got the whole story.

After reading this thread, I am amazed some one would want to put more restrictions on our actions as shooters. GIVE YOUR HEAD A SHAKE.
Hmmmm, 76 posts to get to the truth.

Can you spell Molotov? :D
Last person in the Maritimes I saw who was this ungifted with spelling ended up wearing his errors as his user name :runaway:

:D

win/64 this icident resulted from operator error NOT the amount of rounds i nthe mag
if you take your time and ease the bolt forward it is " almost imposible" to repeat this irregardless of the amoutn of rounds in the mag.
i purposly load 10 rounds into my hunting rifle's mag so that when i am practicing my shooting at the range i am doing so with the same conditions as in the field that way i can ensure my shots will be the same both on the range and while hunting. i have been doing this since i have owned firearms with magazines and have never expierienced even a slight malfunction as such i will continue to do so.
the round round only rule set by some clubs has absolutly nothing to do with safety it is merely set forth to limit all members to the style and prefernce of shooting the clubs rule makers would rather see, most of these rule makers are the ones who only take there rifle out once a year to fire a couple shots and put it away. in todays society of shooters the prefernces are many and some myself included enjoy a full mag especily with a semi auto 22lr or pump action shotgun. why? because its just fun to pop off a full mag as quickly as posible while trying to keep all of your shots accurate

Just one Question.
What range has this stupid rule?
So we can arrange a CGN boycott.

As to the accident, I'm thinking handloader error, something like massive charge of wrong powder.
I doub't even a blocked barrel could do the damage described.

This may sound funny but how the heck can you get 2 or three rounds in a chamber ....thought all chambers hold only one round at a time ,,,da...are we talking magazines here????????Please inform me.

Hey the rules written or not work, can't remember ever seeing an accident like this at a range with a single in chamber rule.

as part of this entertaining conversation.... do you have one chamber, or more?

What do you think when someone dressed in a black robe invites you in his chambers? you think he means more than one, or what?

And if we go hunting , aren't we supposed to practise to perfection exactly what we expect in field conditions? If you like single shot rifles, by all means, your choice. But if you can't shoot the round in the chamber, reload and shoot another in lessthan 5 seconds, I guess you should be banned from hunting unless done so from a treestand at least 20' high.

I challenge you to post here your methods of training at the range - or whatever you call what you're doing - and invite hunters to join you in a hunt..... see how many would oblige.

When I shoot for score with a hunting rifle, one shot...20 minutes brake.... but when I train for the actual hunt..... if all shots are not in the pieplate @100 in the shortest time.... maybe it's time for a golf membership.:runaway:

If that had been a CRF bolt action there wouldn't have been a kaboom if he'd loaded the magazine like you're supposed to.

No double feeds with a CRF.

How the hell do you double feed a bolt action? Really. I've been trying to do it with my "push-feed" Tikka and am having no luck.

with a loaded rifle,

push the bolt forward till the cratridge is in the chamber, but do not close the bolt (by rotatiing it), which would caiuse the extractor to lock on the extractor groove.

retract the bolt all the way, then push forward, feeding the next cartridge in the magazine forward, which will of course jam against the one in the chamber.

Not sure what circumstances would cause one to do this, but the possibility of it occurriing certainly causes much internet debate.

one guy thought of it about 1oo and some odd years ago.

Somebody else thought it would be innovative (cheaper) to change it.

the two names belong to Paul Mauser and Remington. Your pick- Your money- your digits (or didgets if you don't have them).
