Boot dryers?

Did you ever use newspaper? It is the best thing to wick up the water. Crumple up newspaper and stuff them in your boots at night, then by morning they're pretty much good to go. Just not warm like dryers. It works.

We used to take newspaper in to the moose camp, specifically for that purpose. We hunted from a tent.
It works quite well.

Did you fly to your moose camp? I'm trying to fit everything into one small bag, a small daypack that can be full and a soft guncase. Everything has to get Supercubbed at the other end.Even then, I'm down to wondering how many times I can wear the same socks, and debateing wearing hip waders on the airline.;) I guess a newspaper or two won't hurt. I'm likeing this Peet dryer idea.

I use baked potatoes.

Wrap them up with lots of tinfoil and throw them in your boots.
Might take a few times but dries out the boots fairly well.

Great for warming up the sleeping bag as well.:D

Or you can bring a second pair of boots if you have the room/weight in your allowables.

In the field I always have a minimum of 2 pairs of each type of boot. Dry feet are priceless.

Put newspaper in as soon as you take the boots off for the evening, then change it before going to sleep. It works incredibly well.

I'll be be traveling with some sort of hunting boot on my feet, besides the luggage. Probably not the waders though.:D It would almost worth it to walk through the metal detector in camo waders.
I always keep a complete set of hunting clothes in my carry-on, which is a daypack in this case. I always figured that if they lost everything except what I had in carry on and on my back I should be able to get by somehow.

Anyone know where I can find those GoreTex boot liners that you use for a back-up plan after you are already wet? I thought you could get those anywhere, but it turns out that no stores even know what I'm talking about.

Have you ever sent anyone on a snipe hunt? Just checkin'.:D Something seems to be tugging at my leg.

Dead serious.
A couple friends and I were on a 5 day moose hunt where it stopped raining for about 20 minutes the whole trip.
Everything I owned was damp or wet. Living in a nylon tent was miserable.

For supper one night a buddy cooked up some baked potatoes which I hate.
Ended up using them for handwarmers, boot dryers, and warming the sleeping bag up.

I bought myself a wall tent after that trip. There's something to be said about being warm and dry when out hunting.

I went out a few weeks ago for moose and it was beautiful weather.
I figured I'd push my luck and take the nylon tent.
Wasn't much fun waking up to 5" of snow which melted the next few days.

Of course since I don't like potatoes, no handwarmers for me.:D
