I'm just spitballing here, but...

It looks like those of us that live in flyover country are going to be going clinic-less for the next while, so I thought of something that might bridge the gap a little if enough of us are motivated to do it.

There's probably quite a few of us kicking around AB, SK and MB who've been to a clinic or two already. If we were to gather a few gaggles of "experts" (and I'm using that term so loosely you could drive a barge through it here) we could probably pool just enough knowledge (and tools) to do ourselves, and anyone else that dares to attend, serious harm - and maybe fine-tune a couple of M305s or M1As in the process. The idea being that people very new to the platform could at least get some helping hands, a few basic how-tos, and some easily-corrected issues fixed up over a day of hanging out with like-minded nutz.

Would anyone else be interested in helping to organize some events like this in their area, or in risking attending one? I know I'd be up for being part of a "Central SK" crew...

UPDATE: We now have a scheduled clinic for the Saskatoon area! I'll list scheduled clinics as they get organized here:

Saskatoon & Area, May 23rd & 24th, 2015 (http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1142830-2015-Saskatoon-amp-Area-M14-Bootstrap-Clinic-May-23rd-amp-24th)

I'm amazed something like this hasn't been done already.
Hopefully this comes together for you guys, I think it's a fantastic idea.
I think the BC and alberta guys could easily do the same thing.
You guys don't "need" the gurus anymore , so many here have experience to share.
Good idea Pop, hope everyone gets behind it.

Consider me in Pop. I have been through a clinic and enjoyed it, would be more than happy to share the little I have retained....Lol!! Next up bedding my 22" to a USGI fiberglass stock, I know you have done something similar would love to pick your brain!!

Hey Pop, so glad to see you back in the M14 game after your relatively brief hiatus (from the field anyway). I know how you love this stuff. Did you have a specific venue in mind? I believe you know what I'm thinking here.

I would be happy to support the cause if there's any way I can but as you well know, my extra-curricular time is sparse, to say the least. I think this is a great idea and while hammering away with a battle rifle at 100 yards or less is not my first love, I do miss the odd 'stress reliever / giggle / armchair commando' session:D And when it comes to tools & knowledge of machined parts, I have the potential to offer a fair bit.

Keep in touch regarding progress for this and if you need anything, you know where to find me, bud.

Rooster your involvement would solve a LOT of potential logistic problems, not to mention technical ones, and you're not too terrible for company to boot ;) I didn't want to take anything for granted and I know how busy you are. Let's grab a beer next time you've got a free evening and we'll hash out some ideas.

Pop, I'm thinking my gravel pit would serve very well for this - the floor is about 18' from grade & roughly 100m+/- round. We could set up a tent & tables for the tinkering & shared knowledge session, then hammer out some zeros & CQ drills. Neighbors are a good distance away so that noise won't be an issue and unless a guy decides to take a pot shot at a passing pigeon, there is no threat of a projectile leaving the property......probably:rolleyes:

Of course, we'll have to blindfold everybody prior to loading them into the blacked out van to & from the pit....

I'll be back in about three weeks unless work goes uncharacteristically well. Let's get together then to start planning. I'm assuming you're thinking next spring / summer for the event?

My friend, that would be pretty much ideal - though we might want to split stock bedding off into another session. Like live4therut said, hunting season looms so we'd probably best plan for spring. Give me a shout when you're back

Hey fellas, I'm down in SE sask but would be willing to drive for a clinic. count me in for next spring or summer when you do it as long as work doesn't get in the way.

I have done a few bedding jobs and it's not rocket science but if you can't find somebody in your area to help you or want some really excellant instruction track down a copy of Art Lupinos DVD on bedding the M1A, I doubt there's anything out there better.

From the sounds of things the best time to set it up will be in the spring, so I'll try to get something nailed down date/place-wise in the next little while and start organizing.
