It's not 'necessary' if you're very careful but will help if you're in a hurry (or a klutz). A coated rod is more helpful than a guide IMO.

How do you use a bore guide on a T1X? I’m not sure what it’s called but there is a hook thing in the action of the T1X that peels the coating off my rods.

Yes, if you want to preserve the accuracy of your barrel.

Maybe clean from the muzzle - Not Illegal. Just be careful.

Well thats a REALLY BAD idea. The crown is the most important part of a barrel.

I like when people admit to not using a bore guide. They become members of my list of never buying a firearm from!! Can a gun be cleaned properly without one? YES but for $20-30 for a good bore guide, why bother. Dripping cleaning solutions in your trigger or action is enough for me aside from lining the rod up correctly with your chamber/bore. Many bore guides fit multiple guns as well. Nordiccarries a large supply of Possum Hollow

I got my bore guide for a MK II Savage from Lowey products in Australia. Price was comparable to Canada and shipping was faster than normal shipping time across Canada.
