I never thought I would buy one. A Glock 22 .40S&W. This is a very cool pistol. I will take it out this weekend and see how it shoots. After that I will look into some of the mods I've read about for making the trigger nicer and probably get an extended slide stop.

Very nice. I got to try out a Glock 21 in the States this summer and I loved it. When ever I get my first handgun, it will likely be a Glock 17.

Congrats, 3000+ round in on my G17 and I haven't have a single failure. It's the most reliable gun I have ever shot. Definitely get the trigger lightened though!

Master the trigger "reset" and you don't need a "nicer trigger". Also, the extended slide stop is a waste of money.

Other than that when you've got 30,000+ rounds thru your G22 get back to me & tell me how you like it.... ;) :D

The stock trigger sucks, replace it then master your trigger pull.

I have actually found, after using the 3.5# connector for a while, that I prefer the stock 5# connector. The difference between the 5# and the 3.5# connectors is BARELY noticeable, and I actually find the 5# has a much cleaner/crisper break. The 3.5# feels to spongy/springy.

I had the extended slide release, and found though it felt nice, I really never used it. You should slingshot the action closed anyways. Don't want to cause excess wear to the notch in the slide, otherwise the slide will start slinging forward when inserting a magazine with less and less force. The stock release stays much closer to the frame, as not to get caught on anything, whereas the extended release has a little gap between it and the frame increasing the potential of possibly catching on something.

I would say, stick with the stock connector, and stock slide release. one improvement I WOULD recommend though, is a Vickers Tangodown Extended Mag Release. It stocks out a tiny bit more then the stock release, and is shorter than the Glock extended release (so it doesn't get depressed accidentally in your holster). The edges are also rounded with is much more comfortable/less sharp than the Glock version. It's not essential, but I much prefer it.

I was the same way when I first got my G17. I wanted to mod it, and did with all those things. I have since found, that Glock did their homework. They come this way stock for a reason (minus the mag release of course :D).

I would say think about a bevelled grip plug. slip on grip, if needed. And I am going to try a steel guide rod, but I'm not sure if it will do anything other than give me piece of mind... Pretty much a shooter right out of the box. Figure it out as you go along. That or buy the flaming stainless steel slide & skull & cross bones end cap and that barrel that says "smile as you go down on me" or sum thing like that...:p

I recently purchased a Glock 22, and i picked it up today:D. I also shot it today:D:D:D:D. Unfortunatly i only had enough time to put 50 rounds down the pipe before my range closed for the night. But i loved every pull of the trigger, and i will be out there again this weekend with more ammo and more time. This is my first real pistol, i dont count my Ruger mk I, and im loving the glock. Very good choice, i love mine and it shoots very well.:dancingbanana:

I'm saying their is nothing wrong with the stock trigger pull on a Glock 17. It does not suck. The difference between the 5 lb and 3.5 lb connectors is negligible and it makes the trigger mushy, IMO.

Yes, I'm saying I do not want a lighter pull than with the stock 5 lb connector.

Sorry to hear about your terrible affliction. Next thing you know, you're gonna start liking fat girls....

Just kidding. :p The first thing I would do if ever bought a Glock is lightening the trigger pull. The second thing would be replacing the plastic sights.

Yep, ignore the extended slide release (actually caused me to lock the slide open when firing).
The plastic sights are not so great (this is the longest I've kept them... usually replaced them with Meprolights in past - Orange Rear / Green Front).

I like the factory Glock 3.5# connector (unobtainable now) with NY1 trigger spring combo - a little stronger than stock, but very nice reset.

I also like the Wolff Recoil Spring and guide rod, but only if reloading hot.

:)

Don't be alarmed by the buldges in the brass after shooting... it's normal ;)
I wouldn't reload unless you get a new barrel.
Better yet, get a 9mm Lone Wolf conversion barrel and a 9x19 mag or two and you are laughing :)

EnjoY!

For aesthetics alone, Didn't anybody else spend ten bucks & fill that hole in the bottom of the grip on their glock, am I the only one? That had to be my biggest peav, that they cheaped out on a plastic plug. Trival, I know, but money well spent, I say...
Can't speak for the connector as mine came with a #3.5 & I don't know any better. But I can't see the force lbs. being an issue from 3.5 lbs to 5 lbs. once you got use to the pistol.

G37,

The Glock 3.5# connector is easily obtainable. Order one from glockparts.com and they only charge $3 for shipping. Can't beat their service.
