Bought my first AR, now looking for optics

I like the Trijicon TR24G. 1-4 x24, Fibre optic and Tritium. No batteries.
Mine is on a 16" AR, doing double duty as CQB and longer range optic. I looked at the cheaper offerings, the glass was crap in the following optics:
Millet, Weaver, Burris, even the 1.5-4 Leuopold was a bit distorted. Would have bought Vortex Viper 1-4x24, but could not find one, everyone was backordered. Get the best glass you can, save money on upgrading later.

These are all awesome looking scopes, but they are a little out of my price range. I'd like to get one under $200 if possible. I'm willing to spend a little more for the right one, but $500+ is certainly out of the question. After all, it will probably only be used a dozen times a year. My other guns need trigger time too! Lol

If the budget it that tight, and you won't be pushing it out beyond 200 yards, why not skip the side mounted red dot and just go for a decent red dot as your main optic?
