:HFU: I just bought my first handgun EVAR (M&P9).....feels like Christmas lol
Time to count the days before my club safety then the prob shooting.

Anything I need to know about that M&P9?
Now, you glock fanatics don't need to say a thing....I know what you gonna say. "you should have bought a Glock 17 instead!" ovrec

Love the 40 cal version, I'm sure you'll be happy. I am considering looking at upgrading the trigger on mine though. Not sure with what yet, I'd just like it a hair lighter if I could. Three years and zero failures/jams as of yet. Buddy's Glock stove piped twice in the same time frame.:stirthepot2:

As a Glock fan I have to say congratulations. M&P's are great, reliable guns, even if I prefer Glock. Enjoy.

same with my first one too, already changed out the sights for FO adjustable
and looking to do something with the trigger, 600 rounds last weekend with no problems
at all

My first was a Norinco 1911.
Lotsa people bash them too.

But whatevs - you managed to pony up and join the club! Congrats.

Hope you have as much fun at the range as I do :)

Be aware - they're like tattoos... Can't stop at just one, or 5...
:p

Once you play with it for a bit, you may want to upgrade a few things.
For my Wife, I put in the Apex trigger, reset and reduced recoil spring and sets so I could load a little lighter for her.
I gotta admit, the trigger and reset if great, the recoil is a little to get used to with the lighter spring, but she likes it... That is all that matters :)

I have over 25,000 rounds through mine.......
I have never had to replace a part.
I have not had a failure that wasn't ammo related!

No need for an apex kit, google "burwell trigger job for M&P". I did mine in 2009. Fairly simple, power point with nice big pictures!

I called up MD Charlton this winter to order up some spare parts, just-in-case..... I was informed that S&W recommends changing the recoil spring every 50,000 rounds...... I ordered one anyway!

My first handgun is an M&P .40 Pro and got it 9 months ago. No problems and love shooting it, except for the gritty trigger. Even as a new shooter, I could tell this issue could be better. Lots of vids on Youtube regarding trigger and sear upgrades. I now have an Apex spring and sear kit. In hindsight, I should have bought the Aluminum Trigger and spring kit. Have fun!

My first auto loader too. Great gun, it's my go to for shootiong events because it works for me. I hope that you enjoy yours too.

Congratulations you bought a great gun. It's funny you said you picked 9mm for the price point of ammo. My first gun was a 9mm Girsan, then a couple months later I thought maybe I'll get a .40 cal too. And now 1 year later I have 6 pistols with 5 different calibers. Don't just limit yourself to 9mm.
