Boyd M1A Stock Sale

Hey Barney or anyone, I am looking at the springfield usgi stocks that wolverine carries and now the boyds stock (thanks to this thread) but bottom line which stock would achieve better accuracy? Does the boyds stock warp from environmental conditions (moisture). Also how much weight difference between the two?

Nice picture! I don't remember which branch uses these mod.1?

Every wood stock can warp with moisture and temperature change. Wood laminate would be much more stable.

SAI are known for making some low quality stocks. Boyd stock are very well regarded. In this case, I think the cheapest brand will serve you better.

I'm a glass stock kinda guy, a leftover bias from my NRA High Power days! Wood is always subject to compression, humidity, moisture, and temperature variables. Hence my love for synthetic stocks even if they feel colder, and have the personality of styrofoam. :D

Now, once in a while Boyd's makes a special run on their laminated (pepper laminate and Coffee laminate) stocks. :D I have always had a major jones for one of the coffee laminate stocks for a competition M14/M1A.

Once in a while, one can get lucky!

I fit most of the metal hardware onto my stock this weekend. It all fit well. the but plate is a little smaller than the stock. it wouldent take too much sanding too fix it but i dont want to refinish the stock yet.

I havent swapped the metal that fits into the gas system at the fore end of the stock. Does any one have some tips?

If not I am going too pry the crimp out best i can, slip it off, and hammer the crimp back into it when its on my new stock. Hope it doesnt look too bad.

it seems pretty tight without the bedding done yet.

What's wrong with SAI stocks? Are they cast?

Would you care to elaborate on your comment about the SAI stocks?

I had a SAI black synthetic stock. The factory textured finish was peeling slowly and the fiberglass was shreding in a small area under the oprod. The peeling seems to be a common issue for them.

It's a Sage mod.1. It's available in 2 colors: grey/silver and tan/gold. The ones in the pic are the US Navy setup.
In Canada the dealers only have the Sage mod.0 in black available.
