Boyds Gunstock order

I got this the other day, it seems like I may have hit a number they considered excessive. No biggie to me since I've caught up with the stocks I needed.

Dogleg,

Due to regulations pertaining to Boyds’ Gunstocks shipping product out of the United States to customers wanting to purchase more than two to three individual gunstocks per year, we will need you to submit the paperwork for an export license.

If you are interested, I have attached the three Import/Export Documents required. We will then submit and start supplying you with stocks for your own personnel or resale needs.

There are a few guidelines you should be aware of as we get this program started,

First, ordering in lots of 10 for convenience and costs of shipping.

Second, supply us with your projected yearly usage.

We charge a $50.00 exporting license application processing fee per application.

We charge a $15.00 Order Processing Fee that is added to your shipping charges per shipment from your main purchase order.

Once you have completed the export paperwork for your country, please email them back to me at Genaa@boydsgunstocks.com as well as sending hard copies via USPS to

Boyds’ Gunstock Ind. Inc

We look forward to doing business with you.

Should you have any questions please feel free to give me a call or email me back.

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure Super7 was referring to Tech-Sights when he said(in the other thread) they weren't shipping to Canada. Boyds is ok.

Ya he posted about it a lil bit ago. It was tech sights

Well, that's a relief.... 'cause I'm certainly gonna order at least one more stock from Boyd's in the future!

Good looking rig!!

Anyone tried the FT Ffeatherweight Thumbhole stock from boyds? I have been thinking about ordering one for my remington 700 .30-06. Just like to see some opinions on it.

That is not correct.

I ordered one of their classic pepper laminate stocks for my Stevens 200 in .243 Win on line via their website and received it via mail this past Thurday:

I like their "classic" pepper laminate stocks so much I'm just trying to figure out what one I should order next.... maybe one for a Rem 700 BDL style long action. I have a barreled action in mind for that... :D

Looks nice, but pepper laminates look waaaay better with stainless!

You also need to grind down the front sling studs to clear the magazine tube, the studs are quite long and theres not much thread on them, so I also epoxied them into the stock, they wouldn't get tight otherwise.

I put one on my Vanguard 22-250. It dropped right in no problem, looks excellent and fits me really well. Very pleased with it. I haven't shot the rifle yet since installing the new stock but hopefully next weekend. :)

To the 200 owners(no hijack intended) how do the Boyds fit? Do you need to trim them?

The only area mine needed fitting was where the Stevens 200 plastic trigger guard fits into the bottom of the stock. The trigger guard itself is thicker on the forward end, so the stock had to be relieved on the inside so that the trigger guard fit flush in the stock. A small bit sharp chisel & the dremel with a sanding bit did the trick. I had to relieve the rear inside a bit & the sides slightly as well to get it done properly. Went very slow & did trial fits as I went along to get it fit properly. It's actually not all that hard to do.

The rest of the barreled action, blind mag internal parts etc fit the rest of the stock with no issue.

One other tidbit.... the Boyds site says if you are fitting their stock to a Savage action that is/was in a synthetic stock it is recommended to order the longer stock screws off their website [with your stock order - the blued longer stock screws are $3.95 additional per set - it still keeps your base order under $100 - ie. stock $92 + $3.95 stock scews - $95.95 total].

these screws are required for most plastic to wood stock conversions with the Savage 10 & 110 stocks

I completely missed that recommendation when I ordered my stock so I didn't get longer stock screws with it. However, the stock screws that came with my Stevens worked when I went from the factory synthetic stock to the Boyds classic pepper laminate stock that I received, so I was very happy about that [not having to seperatately order the longer stock screws as recommended].

If I was ordering another one I would order the extra stock screws just to have them, though.

The stock is the boyd's Rimfire Hunter in forest camo laminate

close up of where you need to notch the stock for the magazine tube, this took no more than 5 minutes with a small sanding drum on my dremel, then I just oiled the raw wood.

I wanted a forest camo for my M70 but they told me that it was not available, really nice stock you have there Ormachek

Complete drop in

Dave
(however I chose to drill my stock and use 1/2 inch pillars)

"Complete drop in" - That wasn't my experience.... see my Post #36 above.

Just for clarification... I ordered/received the Boyd's classic pepper laminate wood stock. My Stevens 200 is the latter straight feed blind mag version.

I had to fit the factory plastic Stevens 200 trigger guard to the bottom of the Boyd's stock.
