Well now that I have it... must wait for the March clinic in Vankleek Hill.

Compare handguards Boyds to Norc:

It's F A T !!!

The mag fits nice and snug. No stock liner is needed.

It looks 1000X better than the Norinco mystery wood stock. Fitting and bedding should not be a problem but I will wait for the M14 clinic in March to get some expert advice.

I thought the original Norc stock was a "handfull", thank god I have large hands!

For $110USD its a darn good deal, and is quite a bit cheaper than the Wenig stock (which looks absolutely gorgeous as well).

Nice Grif NICE!!! I can't wait for mine to show up! I'm seriously considering a 2nd M14 to put into the Boyd's I ordered...

Can you post a full pic of the rifle in the stock? Are you waiting for the clinic in VKH to bed the rifle in the stock? Just wondering if the barreled action fits in the Body's stock without modifications?

Cheers
Jay

Jay:

I am waiting for Hungry and you to bed the rifle for me! LOL

I just did some general measuring. There will have to be some (minimal) fitting required. A Dremel with a sanding disc and a VERY light touch ought to do the trick. I can see two points where is should be fiber-glassed under the barrel.

It will require very little sanding and should be a nice tight fit...

I did install the butt plate, the stock is larger than the butt plate but it isn't noticeable unless you are scrutinizing the rifle. The nice thing is not requiring the stock liner. The trigger group will clamp the action snug to the stock, as it is now, it needs a couple of thous shaved off as the trigger locking lever does not sit properly.

It will really be important to go LIGHTLY as there is very little to shave/sand off for it to fit tightly. Remember, it is easy to take off, not so easy to put material back on!

Hungry here: ha ha ha ha YES, we actually CAN put more material back on and that's where the DEVCON comes in handy to build things up. I'm not advocating any bubba techniques, but you must understand that should you happen to 'shave' off a little too much wood/lam wood/fiberglass under the barreled action, then we can add more bedding compound and go from there. Wobbles99 knows what I'm talking about. You gotta experience it for yerself! :D

As for the pepper laminate you have coming... find yourself another M14 as it is a completely different look as opposed to the Wenig stock (with the high cheek-rise).

The finish on the stock is a "satain varnish"

The groooves on the top of the stock were the reciever goes on, are they for bedding? I got the peppered stock ordered should be here today, nice stock.

Hungry here: Darn rights they are for the bedding material. Very classy cuts I must add. Yes, we'll bed this baby in March 21 Ottawa Clinic when I get up there, but in the meantime, I want to thank you for posting those beautiful and comparative pictures for all the CGN M14 lovers to see. What a gorgeous stock. Yes, Griffoneur, you can see that things clamp up tightly, but the receiver mortises are hanging in the air so so to speak. That's where we are gonna add the DEVCON to your stock, it's like making a custom stock liner instead of the factory stock liner. Now we are gonna have a skin tight fit!

Hey guys, I though Boyds stopped making this stock...I don't see it anywhere on their website. Is it being made again?

You can still get one from the remaining stock that DMFirearms.com has, $110 US plus shipping. Mine is on the way, and two other buddies also ordered one each!!!

Cheers

Package arrived... WRONG STOCK!!! They shipped me a M1 Garand stock set!!! I called and they are "Out of the office attending the SHOT Show, back on Monday the 19th..."

Now..., I guess I will get to see how "good" their customer service is... It shouldn't cost me ONE PENNY to return and get the ACTUAL stock I ordered... We'll see...

Cheers

P.S. It is a really nice M1 GARAND Pepper Laminate... I just don't own a GARAND!!! UGH!!! (No intention to hi-jack your thread Griff!)

Too bad about the mistake but I don't think you'll have any problems selling your M1 stock here if they want you to pay for shipping. Since it's brand new, I bet you'll be able to get your full paid price easily :D

Got my stock today from DM, wrong stock it is for M1 garand :mad:
I wonder how many other guys are going to have surprise. I guess I will try phoning dan tomorrow and see what he can do.Very disappointing

wow, two guys ordering one, and both got the wrong stock. Someone over at DM who is picking the orders must be hung over or something. I am guessing there is a bunch of stocks that are mis-identified and the guy is shipping out all the wrong ones not even knowing it. That sucks!!

I called DMFirearms to tell them I got the wrong stock. No problems, they are putting a new M1a stock in the mail to me. Also sending me an email with "return" info, if sending the Garand stock back costs me anything, they will credit my credit card that amount. Anyone else notice the coding, M1a 400-111 and M1 Garand 400-011, hence the mixups???

Here's hoping that the exchange/return is as painless as they said it would be...

Cheers

P.S. I should say that the funniest thing was having to explain to the guy that we don't have USPS here... USPS is the national postal service for the USA, in Canada, we have an equivalent called Canada Post... He just couldn't get his head wrapped around it, and asked several times, "Are you sure you don't have USPS?" I made sure he DIDN'T mean the boys in brown UPS...

Hey Griff, how much for the stock??

Don't want the rifle part, unless it goes "ping"...........:D

Cost me $122USD. I save a lot of money on shipping as I have a friend in Vermont where I have stuff shipped to. I then drive to Vermont and pick up. I think DM charges $42USD for shipping to Canada.
