Brand new 686 is missing stock pin

I have a model 18 no dash that is also missing the pin. I'll replace it with a regular roll pin when I get around to it.

I also had pretty bad QC issues with a new S&W 617 this year. Thankfully I ran a patch through the bore before taking it to the range (which I always do) otherwise I wouldn't have noticed this.

Noticed what? I can't tell from the image what the problem is? A crack, piece of machining swarth or what?

The vendor who is also a CGN sponsor exchanged the revolver without question for a new replacement. It was only replaced by the LGS because it was unshot otherwise it would have gone through the warranty process. They just don't make them like they used to.

Yikes. Good thing you (E)xamined the bore. :)

I recently bought a SW 586-8 and its probably the best looking and put together gun I have ever bought in my life. So smooth, accurate et finish is perfect. Some got lemon unfortunatly but the quality of SW is way above colt for most of the stuff Ive seen.

that is what he is talking about, looks like a wire, machining screw up, I have a new 686 in stock seems fine, but the trigger is not like my early ones, but a new gun with light strikes would not go over good, I have a new Jericho 941 S that was light on S-B ammo 9mm, firing pin spring was a hair too long, on those the spring compression determines the firing pin protrusion.
But a super gun, after I FIXED THAT
