yesterday I shot my brand new p226 blackwater and so frustrated:( within 40 rounds shooting,I got about 5 rounds mis-feed and 10 rounds empty ejection problem(empty nipped in chamber by half way slide). Before I went to range,I did clean and light oil my toy. However, I brough my gun to dealer, they deep oil the moving parts and shot about 100 rounds without any problems.
I bought sig p226 just because it's relability, reputation and accuracy. but I have no idea why this happened to this specific firearm.

Lots of questions raised here... ;)
Here's a few:
-What ammo were you using..factory? reloads?
-What is your experience shooting a pistol? (limp-wristing, eg?)
-Were you shooting off a rest or standing unsupported? (rest interfering with slide, eg)

This all means little unlsee we know what type of ammo you were using. New guns come with new recoil springs. That means light loads will likely not fare well.

Mine was a bit cranky for the first bit, but smoothed out in a short bit, have patience young jedi!

A new gun being cranky is normal, if you read all of the books, they will say that you must shoot at least 200 rds through a gun before it is reliable enough to carry. Plus a good deep cleaning helps.

I don't consider a new semi-auto pistol broken in until it's seen at least a 1000rounds of factory ammo. Are you 'limp wristing the pistol? Are the problems with feeding and extraction centred to one magazine or all magazines?

Also keep in mind that 10rd mag never have the reliability of the factory originals.

I would heed redleg's comments and Colin's advice -- I typocally shoot 500rds thru a pistol before I start thinking it is broken in.

+1 on what KevinB said.

My experience was totally opposite, I have never owned a Sig until recently, and it has been the best gun I have ever owned next to my Glock, only based on the fact that my Glock was bought new in 1990, my first gun and has digested every type of 9mm I have been able to find and load.

Now the Sig has been the same as far as relaiblity goes, but far more accurate then the Glock. I have had a few CZ's worked well, but finiky with certain ammo as were my 92's, Ruger's and especailly the hunk of crap one and only USP I owned.

I can say that as a recent Sig convert, it is bar none the best pistol I have ever onwed. I have a 226 and a 228. Now looking for a 220 and a 230.

Try the suggestions made here.

thanks

thanks for replies. my ammo is winchester 9mm luger 115GR. FMJ(100 round value pack) bought in Le Baron for 17.18 CAD/box. yesterday I also tried instructor's more powerful 9mm ammo, but the situation just became a little bit better. maybe I am limb-wrist since my instructor never got my problem,he shot about 15 rounds. but anyway,I shot cz75 and glock before, the similar thing never happened to me. limb-wrist would be the bad issue for used guns?

thats strange for a SIG, my sig226 runs like a ROLEX, very accurate and reliable, talking of 1.5inch at 20 yrds. this is my second SIG, first was the 229, and same results. If i were to choose a pistol that non 1911, no doubt I will take the Sig lines especially they are now equip with a barstock slide. tried all other non 1911, (HK,BERETTA,GLOCK) and they are not bad but would say second to SIG. the only thing about SIG is their grip a little bit chunky.of course my desire pistol is still a custom 1911 by BEAR ,ED BROWN

If the gun fires faultlessly with outher shooters using it then your hold is a part of the problem. However, there are various weights of recoil spring available for use. Try getting a lighter one from Wolff Springs. I bet that would solve the problem. You may also want to check your spring to ensure it is the correct type. If it has green paint on it, then it is a 40S&W spring. I have seen them mixed up before. In any event if the recoil spring is too stiff, you can rest assured that it will become less stiff with use.

there is no green sign on recoil spring. let me try more and see what gonna be happened to me. thanks anyway.

I had problems like you when I was breaking in my p99 a while back. I switched to 124gr fmj and the problems went away.

And 17 bucks for a box of 9's? Sounds kinda expensive. Your best bet is to grab a case of 1000 for about $200.

100 rounds per box....1000 for about 17x.x:D which is cheaper?
