Brand New to Canada: SG-12 "SPAS"

Hmmmm, sounds like if you run it like it 'says' to, you'll have better luck. {as per above ^} post. I haven't watched the video above that. Did they run the proper high velocity rounds/do the break in procedure? Even if they are sh&t, I'd still pick one up, Knowing this, for half price ..~

YouTuber KennyFSU running the hook to shoot the SPAS one handed like a boss! Some break in shenanigans, but his seems like a good one, relatively:

A commentator on the video said to Loctite the pistol screw to 25 inch pounds to prevent injury like the video showed

The Sulun SPASS-12 is a Turkish clone of the Franchi SPAS-12, imported by Blitz Creek LLC out of Clay Township, Michigan. THE classic gun from Jurassic Park and Modern Warfare 2. (It does not run like one.)

I paid about $1,100 to $1,200 for this Gen 2, expecting something in the better tier of Turkish shotguns.

A real Franchi SPAS-12 is pushing $6,000 if you can find one. This was supposed to be the shortcut. It was not. We had roughly 750 rounds and did not get through a quarter of a box. I do not think we cleared more than three full magazine tubes without a stoppage.

Failures included rounds double feeding out of the tube, the lifter not presenting a shell into the chamber, failure to extract, and a case head left in the chamber with the rim gone.

The extraction cut looks too wide for the extractor to actually grab the rim. Target loads, Fiocchi Dynamic Defense buckshot, Hornady Critical Defense, and slugs all failed.

Switching to pump did not save it.

Other notes from the video: the tube ships with a limiter, so it is 5+1 instead of 8+1, and the spring already feels weak with the limiter in.

The magazine tube loosens under fire, which walks the gas setting off. The folding stock needs a tool to actuate and shifts on the shoulder.

The safety is a crossbolt, not the lever on the original. The pump and semi selector is a button, and the manual of arms is not the same as a Franchi. The trigger is fine. That is about the only mechanical win.
Scored out of 100, it finished at 1, and only because it looks enough like a SPAS-12 to hang on a wall.

Ethan’s Gen 1 was also bad. If you have heard some of these run, this one did not. A thousand dollars in Vegas is a better bet.

That's not the one in Canada. That is a Gen 1 version that was not accepted by Tactical Imports was then shipped by the manufacturer to the US market. NOT the same gun.

Seems you must of skipped something.

Micah had the latest version and it's quality will be identical to the ones found up here. Saying otherwise is an attempt at cope. He didn't care if the gun was good or not. Across 5 or more types of ammo the gun was clearly just a POS. His cameraman also has a Gen 1 and said while it ran slightly better than the Gen 2 they were reviewing it was still a horribly unreliable firearm.

It’s comical how others with little to no experience with this shotgun will denigrate and deride it based upon others posted experience with it. Like I said in post above …we actually had one of these SG-12’s out to the range on weekend. Put about 100 rounds through it will little to no trouble as long as the correct ammunition was used in semi auto. This gun likes premium ammo…just like the manufacturer said. The REAL Franchi SPAS only ran good in semi with full power high brass ammo as well…Unlike most here …I have had actual experience and owned several of these way back when …I can only speak from my experience and not basing my opinion on any judgement or assumption from others ….I am more than happy with the experience I had shooting a friends Sulun SG-12 and somewhat pleasantly surprised…

####ting on something you haven't tried (you ignore the thorough research some of us have done) is not as dumb as declaring something good based on a sample of one. The original SPAS may have been picky but it is a gun that generally worked, unlike every Turkish copy I have seen myself so far. No doubt some functional guns are out there. That doesn't change the fact that most seem to have issues.

Oh looks like a new order

FWIW, I have had mine out about 5 times

It's still running just fine, Probably 400-500 rounds through it. The mag plug had to be glued in, and I put blue loc tite on teh mag tube and it stopped walking itself off. Great little shotty. I still can't believe I own one legally.

I'm still going to try for another one when the next batch comes in, so the more guys who hate them and spread that around the better.
