Hello all,
Im seeking some advice. I've been reloading .50 cal AE rounds for a while now, and i have a mixture of brass cases and nickel cases. I noticed today while i was reloading that after crimping the brass cases the bullet sits nice and snug, however after seating and crimping the Nickel cases the bullet spins quite easily in the case... i increased my crimp, but the problem remains... even when the crimp starts looking excessive the bullet can still turn in the case. Im using Hornady 300 gr JHP.... anyways, looking for some advice... is this ok? can i still shoot these rounds off safely?

Thanks

Not a expert but some thing is wrong

if it was me = fix the problem and dont shoot the bad rounds

Mag/heavy recoil guns if you don't have good crimp/grip you could have bullet setback = very bad things happen

pull the bad rounds

Never used the nickel plated stuff myself, but I do hear people complaining about reloading it often enough. I wouldn't be very happy with loose bullets in my reloads. Might have something to do with the nickel plating being harder than the brass and not forming quite the same in the dies?

Nickel plated brass becomes brittle over time more so than regular brass cases. Yours are probably getting thin and close to cracking. Maybe time to throw them out.

+1 toss the nickel cases that are doing this. you don't want the bullet loose in the case as you fire, especially 50 cal, that bullet will move forward or backward ether way not a good idea. toss it.
