Breaching Info???

So I guess target shooting with tac gear, holsters, drag bags, B27 targets, short barreled AR's, tac shotguns, 3 gun matches, IPSC shouldn't be done by us civilians?

Practice as you train, who knows when you might need door breaching skills in your bag of tricks.

For me, I will still be at the range in snow, rain, heat shooting in all the practical ways I can figure out.

SWAT and SORT can do their things, but what's the harm in practice if you have the skills.

Perhaps Patrick doesn't like to see firearms in civilian hands. Maybe only the cops are professional enough to shoot them? If this is the case I revoke my citizenship and am moving to country with freedom.

I'm just glad that Patrick doesn't work for the CFC. :confused:

Honest to god folks. Talk about taking yourselves too damn seriously. Someone comes on here and adds some levity to the notion of civillians blowing down doors with their "tacticool" shotguns and you guys get all bent out of shape, accuse me of being anti-gun, call me a liberal. Granted I was playing devils' advocate, but listen to yourselves.

If you like playing dress-up, go ahead, but don't get offended if you somebody calls it the way they see it. Who cares what I think? I sure as hell couldn't care less what you guys think, I am sure we'd get along outside of this forum and we would probably see eye to eye in other threads. That being said, get over yourselves, do what you want with your guns, as long as your safe, who cares.

As for me, well I can't resist a good laugh, try it sometimes, some of you need one!

I guess it'd be fun to start a match stage by being required to blow down a fake-door, go thru it, then engage whatever targets are behind it ....
 
I got one of the "door breacher" hoopty doos from Casey at Tactical Ordnance.

He is a genuinely great guy to deal with :D


The door breacher is a great effective muzzle brake as well (my primary reason for getting it), especially when using slugs. You can also use it as a giant poker, kind of like a less than lethal bayonette :p


As for breaching SHELLS, there are special powdered tungston shells, they basically come out as one big chunk, blow the said mechanism of door to smitherines, then turn into powder dust when they come out the other side.

The whole point to them, is to reduce "collateral damage" on the other side of the door. (for a Mil. or LE standpoint, its in case there are hostages)

If you are just gonna blow up some old doors (lots of fun TRUST me :D) then buckshot SHOULD be fine, just watch youself! If you dont have a "breacher" and try to blow up the door, if even 1 of those pellets comes back it can deal a whole lot of bad. That said, Most of the time the pellets wont come back.

The breaching device will ensure all the pellets go away from you and make it much less likely for it to kick back.

I personally dont care what people do with their guns, as long as its responcible, and they make sure what they are doing is done safely (within reason)

IMHO getting the "tacticool" stuff and playing military man is no different than the cowboy shooting, or IPSC. All are fun and worthwhile passtimes, and as long as you are having fun, why not! :D

We don't care what you think, the way you have side tracked this thread is annoying. As stated earlier, you come off as condescending. I'm sure you get along fine with others in person as you are not likely as arrogant when you are face to face. It's easy to be 6' tall and 200lbs of Satan when you're on the internet :rolleyes:

I've got one of these comming. Can't wait! :D Reason: because I can. Probably will never get to use it. Actually, they advertise it helps with muzzle rise and recoil.

Was watching some weird youtube video about conventional/nonconventional shotgun rounds.

One mentioned was a lead dust/lead powder round that they used for breaching. Since it wasn't enclosed in anything it pretty much lost all effect after 6-12 inches, but inside there it'd punch a hole the size of a basketball in anything.

I wonder how #9 trap loads would work for breaching? at 4" from the muzzle they should pretty much destroy a lock and have minimal effect on anything on the other side of the door having already lost most energy in the door....
