I grabbed a couple of the SHOT show pictures and put them side by side with the Bren Ten.

This "new" Fortis is pretty close to the original.

Logo, serial number sequence, grip, cross block safety, extractor, sights, blah blah, everything pretty much the same. The big question is magazines.....

The only obvious difference I can tell from the photos is the extension of the slide rail groove on the slide. Other than that, pretty darn close.

I'm going to try and get one with the same serial number as my Bren Ten.

That is your Bren Ten? How did you get one up here?
I've owned 4 Bren Ten pistols. I bought my first one from Mountain Man sports in Cranbrook, BC, back in 1985. It was strange as MM brought in, I believe, 5 guns. All had 2 magazines when at the time, some guns in the US only got 1 mag, and some were delivered with no mags and an IOU for one.

And yes, that one is mine.

There was a few more than 5. I said Mountain Man sports brought in 5. Other stores obviously brought in some. And in those days, there wasn't a hassle importing guns from the US, so some were probably brought in by individuals.

Things were a bit simpler in those days. And I don't think there is a single case of a 7-11 being held up with a Bren Ten.

Man, oh, man I want one of those to go with my mesh shoes with no socks, pastel shirt and linen sports coat. Damn that's an awesome piece. Any indication for when retail sales start??

Why does Ottawa Citizen, which I assume is a paper, know that? Or Care?

Thanks Sonny, err I mean Koldt! Very interesting. Fortis is the manufacturer? What's the history?

On a tangent, I thought the 10 mm was kind of dead except for a niche market. Or is it alive and well? I remember years ago that Auto Ordnance (IIRC) offered a bunch of top ends for the 1911, including 10 mm. How come everyone is not doing this today doing this on the 1911 platform.

10mm Auto factory loads are on the soft side and the .40S&W came along with factory loads that were nearly as powerful. To really get full benefit of the 10mm requires reloading, then it is a rip snortin' fire breather.

From what I gather, .40S&W took most of the wind out of the 10mm sails and the 10mm Auto never recovered.

As far as LEO use perhaps. The 10mm is gaining ground nowadays if anything.

My cousin and I bought the second and third (if one believes the sales person) Bren Tens that came into Canada. Both came with 2 mags. I sold mine in the late 80's but he still has his. I wonder if his is the one registered in BC. If the magazines go back into production I'm sure he'd by a bunch. He has talked of selling it.......

I like to hear that. I wasn't dumping on it in my last post, but it is still a fringe caliber with factory ammo hard to find and limited selection of guns chambered for it. I would like to see that all change in the future, it is a great handgun round.

I am waiting to see the Fortis come out and have a space in my safe reserved for a 10mm in the next year or so.
