Brigade Makasi MK15 We're back in business!!

I wonder if a Third Echelon WK180C mid-length piston kit would work with the Makasi? You could get your own barrel with a mid length port, or perhaps drill a new one on the Makasi barrel and seal the old port like how you would on a Renegade.

I'll be honest but I don't really see the point in this? No off the shelf AR barrel long enough to be NR is setup for a mid-length gas system so you'd have to get a barrel done to your specs at which point you might as well stay with the Makasi's carbine length piston gas system instead of trying to mix and match things. If the extra 2.6" of barrel the NR ones coming here have (relative to the 16" factory ones stateside) somehow results in the rifle being over-gassed (which I doubt), a better move to tame it would be to slightly open up the gas port on the piston for the suppressed setting (since you probably won't be running it suppressed, haha).

The Liberals will wait until the distributor receives a shipment, then change the FRT to prohibited. And because it's not part of the buy-back program, whoever has them will get nothing.

Sorry... I just have no faith in the government to do anything reasonable.

I mean you're probably not wrong but it's kinda nice to pretend like we'll get something new and cool. Not all of us have sorted out our exit strategy stateside yet ;)

They’re still 6 months out … maybe more
Why worry about it today?

Point taken. But it might be nice for a 20" IBI barrel for a precision DMR-style build. Plus having a Canadian version of an otherwise proprietary part would be nice. I don't know if Third Echelon is still around, anyways.

I am pretty confident life never changed for those with their own land.

Before I even had my PAL (and did not clue in) I remember people shooting ARs deep in Crown on 4WD trips. I can only assume they are still doing that despite whatever someone had Ottawa decreed.

Anyway, you only live once. People will do what makes sense for them and I prefer to mind my own business.

So is this correct?
RCMP is responsible to determine what’s NR,
Then Gov intervenes and tells RCMP to prohibit the rifle they just gave the NR status to.
Then RCMP changes their minds and prohibits the rifle they just passed as NR.

If so, that’s got to be the weirdest case of entrapment I’ve ever heard of 🤔

Its so ludicrous it borders on the ridiculous.

Imagine if this were presented to a non Liberal biased court that simply looked at the facts and did not have prejudices because it is a black scary piece of metal.

At that point you could probably get IBI to turn down a 20" barrel and drill the gas port at the carbine length to take the factory piston. I'm sure you could get spare parts for the gas system from Brigade if you wanted to have spares on hand. Just makes more sense to modify a barrel to work with the factory gas system vs trying to make an aftermarket part fit.

This is a very welcome development after such a long dark period of being a gun owner.

I have a severe itch for a 223 / 556 semi. Something that runs reliably and is geared towards dynamic sports shooting. It takes AR triggers (big plus IMO) so in time if / when we see that this wont go the same way as so many similar rifles before it I could see me picking one up.

I have to say it perplexes me how there is such a drive by our Liberal overlords to rid the world of "Assault style" firearms and then something like this gets NR status. It is a positive development but defies logic and makes me very suspicious.
