Can't remember the exact wording, but Kalishnakov was quite complementary towards John Garand, even though Garand had only designed one system, while Kalishnakov had designed many.

When in Buenos Aires, I saw the one of a kind Argentinian - built Garand.

I believe Argentina was going to adopt the Garand around 1950, but only if they could get a license to produce the rifle on their soil.

Here's a pic of the prototype Argentinian Garand as well as several other prototypes they had developed. These can be seen in the museum in downtown Buenos Aires, which is well worth a visit. The sailors at the Malvinas memorial are carrying classic Argentinian Mausers. Pics taken 8 years ago.

The very ODD person gets off on that sh1t, but they are ODD.

Anyone going into a stressful situation that isn't prepared to swap out mags at first opportunity or top up their in use mag, is going to be one of the first casualties.

As far as bouncing shot/bullets off walls??? Waste of ammo IMHO. That's like spray and pray, which seems to be what TV/Movies promote.

Good instructional video. I personally never ran into a situation where that type of shooting was required. Grenades were much more effective, if I had them and I didn't have to expose myself, other than to toss it, again, usually from behind cover.

But the conversation was about boarding parties on a ship. Ya know, steel floors walls and lots of nice round pipework to send that lead back at you.

We didnt use shotties because they are not suitable for much else apart from breaching in CQB.At typical engagement distances a shotgun is a distinct disadvantage compared to a M4.

Hollywood has alot to answer for with regard to the mythical abilities of buckshot.

I may have missed something in your explanation??

Once you've breached a door, unless you're going into a very large room/warehouse etc, a typical shotgun has a very effective 50+ yard range.

I sincerely doubt, there are very many ships you will be entering that would require more range. Maybe out on the deck?? But then again, that's why you have more than one person and type of firearm in your boarding party.
