Thanks, got her to how I like it. I also have two Elite 3500's that mount beautifully in Warnes QD high rings... one is a 2-7x32 that allows me use of the iron sights if I so want (and I do), and a 3-9x40 that requires the rear sight to be removed and a slot blank added (which I also have). The standard CZ rings, which are extra high, give me more options, but I prefer the Warnes QD. The turned down bolt was, apparently, a factory option prior to 1956 and ZG-47 tooling, and it does appear to be original to the rifle. The handle is super neatly brazed (not welded) onto the bolt body and is made of a nickel-steel (same purple-black hue as the original shroud). The stock cut-out also looks original, with original finish. All-in-all a real slick and lightweight package!

I went with Warne ql in high also but probably would have worked with mediums {leupold 3x9 compact],I left the sights od and plan to use them also.
I just recieved my bear tag ,so the plan is to use the Brno {8x57]with the S&B 196 SP,I have the Hornady"s now but no range access fyi, kelly

8x57 in a soft point is devastating on black bear. You will be well equipped. Field report would be nice!

I have really warmed up to Bushnell's made in Japan (great quality, simple hunting scopes), after having owned numerous Leupold's (which I also like) and after learning the latest incarnation of Bushnell's that replaced the 3200/3500 and 4200/4500 series are now made in China--having a hard time with that, but who knows, maybe they'll turn out to be as good as the Vortex's.

love the rifle, hate the scope mount.

Standard CZ rings will fit, as well as Warnes and a few others. Just need to clear the scope ocular with the butter knife handle. I got lucky as mine had a low mounted conventional handle--either a factory option or an owner alteration I will never know for certain, but it works good. If I were doing it over again, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one with a butternife handle bolt, tuck it away and simply buy a conventional M98 bolt and have that handle altered.

Lynx out of South Africa makes a ring that will clear the bolt handle.
I ordered a set of rings with a one-piece base/ring setup from CZ-parts in the Czech republic.
They were great to deal with.
