Brno 21H Rifle and Carbine

If I contacted Brno would they be able to clear up the debate?
If they didn't come from the Czechs during the Cold War the Americans would have better knowledge of the designations.

Probably, or you could look on page 306 of "Mauser: Original Oberndorf Sporting Rifles" by Jon Speed, Walter Schmid, and Reiner Herrmann. There is also a book whose title escapes me, that was written in both Czech and English about Brno rifles. The English version was going for $400 when I found one six years ago.

I have a 1949 Brno 21H in the 8x57 dad bought me when I was around 11 or 12.
I remember shooting it when we first got it at the shooting range at the lower mainland.
Barnett maybe???
It had a 4x scope and that double set triggre has spoiled my view about trigger pull.
If I can find that old target, I will post it. Two hundred yard target and the pattern was
dang good. To have those young eyes again, heck I would trade these ones for'em.
I had the same rifle in 7x57 but the rear wood was cropped quite short. I sold it and now
regret it. Would of been a fine rifle for my youngest daughter.
Mine will past down to her when my path has ended here.
I for the life of me can't understand why these beauties get sold.
To the OP, thanks for the post and viewing those two lovely gals.
Looky.

BTW, those beautiful wood stocks and metal hardware make excellent bases for custom Mausers !!

Kurgan, are those Talley rings, and could we get a pic of the bolt handle as it sits in the rifle, thanks.
Just picked up a 21H myself (thanks to a pal) in 7x57. This one will stay, I swear!

Only the stock, sights, floorplate and trigger guard are Brno 21. It sports a notoriously rare 1946-48 FN-made 98 small ring standard length police action, Brno 21 stock, floorplate, sights and trigger guard, and a DWM-made barrel of the same vintage. Of course, it is in the best calibre, 7x57. ;)

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't tell you what rings they are.

It was custom built in the 1970's by Richard Gibbs out of Syndey, BC.

Also, if you check gunsinternational.com for Brno you'll see some. They have one listed at $1,759.00, but that's in the states.
Cheers

Had one identical to that only mine still had the double set triggers. It is earlier, the receiver ring doesn't have integral dovetails and is actually knurled with the CZ marking in it. Absolutely beautiful rifle with excellent balance.
