BRNO 602 photos and info

Nice 550 Magnum...I wonder if anyone has tried a ZKK 602 action in a 550 magnum stock? The bottom hardware (including the drop mag and the third stock through bolt) look identical
 
I was thinking the same thing when looking at those photo's. Is the bottom metal the same as well? I thought the 550's had one less round capacity with flush bottom metal but the pics look the same as 602

I just read the link provided by Twoshots .. this review of the ZKK and in particular ZKK602 has been updated since an earlier version I read. In the earlier version DeHaas was not sure if the receiver was an investment casting or a forging - it appears he has now been informed that it is a forging. Also he states that the ZKK602's were not provided with set triggers....both of my ZKK 602's came with the little cloth toolkit bag including the disassembly tool and the "other" trigger (IIRC- the straight set trigger was factory installed) ... also came with the manual and a test target with the right size bullet holes. I have often wondered if these factory test targets were actually shot or produced with calibre appropriate pencils .... doesnt matter .. all my ZKK's can easily equal or better the factory targets.....
 
Just for comparison, my 550 came with a little cloth bag with a tool in it (no trigger though) and factory test target that I was easily able to beat for accuracy. It also has a set trigger.

The 550 stock will fit on a 602 with some very minor fitting, by the looks of it the front of the receiver is slightly larger on the 602, I'm in the process of fitting a brand new stock to my custom 458 that I just picked up.
 
I am installing CZ550 stock from my 375 h+h on my BRNO ZKK-602 458 Lott w/ a Bevin King barrel. Opening up the barrel channel is the only enlargement so far. I will be bedding the action .

Actually, the Ruger has used a wing style safety for a good many years now.

The issue with the Mauser was after owning the rifle for a number of years, not a "transition" issue, just a brain fart.

I look at the actuation of a safety differently than you do. I see it as a device that must be released in an unconscious, reflexive manner. If you have to think about it, you're taking too long and could end up dead. If you're just shooting deer on the prairies then you can be as slow as you want. But if you ever decide that you want to hunt animals that can bite back, you had better have your sh*t together or you will get someone hurt. Those are the people that I choose to not hunt with. But to each his own.
 
anyone shoot a 602 in both 458 lott and 416 rigby?
I've shot both 375hh and 416 rigby and found the recoil mild (compared to expectations) I want to build a open sighted lott if I will enjoy shooting it but not it if it gives me a headache.
 
I have in the past carried a 602 in .458 Lott it had a brake on it ( Boomer hated that thing ) it shot well it carried like a 4x4 should have had it on wheels. It had 2 rnds. go off in the mag box at 2 different times. No one hurt,stocks were toast. It is being rebuilt right now as we are sure we found the problem.Time will tell. Great rifle tough as nails. As for fun to shoot as with most things that are fun do it in moderation to keep it fun.

I found this elswhere

375 H&H (10lb gun) 300 gn @ 2572 fps = 40 ft-lb recoil

416 Ruger (9.5lb gun) 400gn @ 2330 fps = 50 ft-lb recoil

458 Lott (10lb gun) 500gn @ 2200 fps = 62 ft-lb recoil
 
Yes my son is quite able to deal with anything that comes along. The ship is an old ore carrier that ran aground in the 60's. We were just working in the area.
