Brnos.........?

Honestly, I currently own, or have owned Anschutz 1422's and 1416's, several Walther KKJ's, Winchester 52's, etc, etc, and I still find that if I'm going out in the field/gopher patch, my first choice is a Brno. I love the function and balance, but I also find that on average, they aren't fussy about what you feed them, they tend to shoot anything fairly well. That's just my opinion, others are free to disagree. Hope you enjoy your model 1/2/5! Keep us posted on how it preforms.

Well the BRNO did not disappoint me.
The first 30 rounds of bulk ammo and the 3/4" scope showed it's a shooter.

Picked up a set of steel Burris 1" rings for a CZ527 and after a few strokes with a file to remove the recoil nub and some cold blue they were ready to install.
Will have to wait till latter this week to try it with the bigger scope.

Did find a video from a guy that showed a picatinny rail that fastened to the 16mm dovetail. Sent him a note to find out who makes it.

Now to find a second 5 shot magazine.
Can anyone tell me if the CZ polymer magazines work in the BRNO.
My LGS has them and a steel 10 round for the CZ's.

I have also heard from a friend that there is 2, #2's in Oshawa for sale.

Magazines - I have a CZ 452 Silhouette - 1983 or 1993, I think? (Grandson has it at his place) - then a CZ 452 Scout - 2011 - and that 1955 BRNO No. 1 - all the magazines - steel versus polymer, single shot, 5 round and 10 round that are here, all interchange among those. Not sure if the later versions like 453, 455 and so on fit, as I do not own any of those.

Owning several #5's, I decided to make a small run of picatinny rails for them. These rails do NOT fit #1"s as the dovetail is smaller on a 5 than on a 1.
They are not on our website but if anyone is interested email the shop for more info.

Thanks for the heads up.
As mentioned above, my rifle is actually an early #5, a #1 bbl. with a #2 action that has the 16mm dovetail.
I have a set of Burris rings for a CZ527 that I removed the recoil nub and they work fine.
I have read that the later #5's could have a 11mm dovetail.
When I receive the egw mount I will make sure of the fit before any changes are made.
If not I might be interested in looking at your mount.

257Roberts - I believe Europeans measure and name their dovetail size by the width at the top of the male dovetail - edge to edge at the widest part. If you have a calliper, just measure that and you will be close - perhaps even a ruler laid out in "mm" would be close enough to tell if you have 11 mm, 16 mm or something else. North Americans typically measure and name dovetails at the bottom of the male dovetail - or the opening at entrance to the female dovetail - at the narrowest part - so a 3/8" North American dovetail is circa 12.5 mm across the top (if you measure it the way Europeans do). I think. As posted above (Post 24), there is a different side angle used - European to North American dovetails.

My #5's all have 11 mm dove tails, hence the rails made are 11mm

Mine measures 16mm as mentioned above. The CZ527 rifle also has a 16mm dovetail.
BRNO's and CZ rifles are all but standard as far as American rifles are concerned.
When I first picked up this rifle I was surprised at the width and started looking and found they have different mounting.
Again thanks for the information.

Should have said Compared to American rifles

Be aware that there were CZ 452 with either 11 mm or 3/8" dovetails that were available for sale in North America. I think that caused a ton of confusion about which size dovetails were used on the 452's. If you will be playing with them, it helps to understand the different ways they are measured, and the side angles used.

I don't think either are "American" rifles? BRNO's were made in what used to be Czechoslovakia, and CZ's are made in the same factories, I think - but now owned by CZ-USA - again, I think.

We also make rails for the 527's as again I own a few. They require drill and tap however. The Brno rails do not.

It's been a while since I studied up on the Brno/ CZ transition, but I'm almost certain that it was an intellectual property thing, and production moved to a different location.
Confusing history and model designations, but amazing rifles!

If I could only put a picture on here.

They post fine if you use a third party hosting site.

For instance, this is my CIL-Anschutz 190 as hosted on Imgur:
