Broke my gun dry firing

Why not buy a SIG in the first place... :nest:

On a more serious note, did you check with the dealer you bought the gun from?... What kind of service is he giving you?

As far as I know, a broken firing pin is no reason to get one's panties in a knot.

do owners of Norinco firearms wear panties? personally, i go boxers...

When you said 'Pat'... my first taught was these 'Pat's'

ca-ppcli.gif

Pats = plurar of Pat, as in 1 Pat, 2 Pats
Pat's = possesive, showing ownership, as in Pat's car, Pat's pet

and i was referring to the "Pat" from SNL :p

obviously a slow day at work today...

If my television breaks, I have to take it to a Toshiba Canada repair center. Toshiba Canada imported the TV from Asia and supports a warranty on it despite the fact it was sold through a retailer.

Marstar was the sole distributor of these guns, to my knowledge. If they distributed a faulty product I would have expected they would rectify it. What good does going through the dealer to Marstar do besides frustrate the parties involved? Just doesn't make sense for one broken firing pin.

Why don't you call the dealer you bought it from?
He will be able to arrange warranty with Marstar, if not
send your gun back to Norinco in China...:D

Rimfire firing pins hit the edge of the breech, when the chamber is empty. That's a bad thing. Most DA revolvers, with the pin attached to the hammer, cant possibly be damaged by dry firing. The hammer simply strikes the frame, with the chamber empty. You have to dry fire DA revolvers, repeatedly, to develop a smooth trigger pull. In fact, I think I'll go dry fire my model 29 for about a 1/2 hour. I'm bored, The weather sucks.

I wonder why the military instructs us to take an aimed dry shot downrange, after ever unload if its so terrible for your rifle.

Here we go again.

Dryfiring should NOT damage anything in a centerfire firearm. Rimfires are going to slam the firing pin / striker into the edge of the chamber, so obviously a bad idea.

In the OPs case, I suspect it is yet another Nork quality control issue.

YMMV

Dry firing a Ruger SR9/c or P345 without the magazine in it will damage the firing pin. Some other makes/models may have problems as well. One should always read the manual and or research possible problems or complaints about any firearm they are going to purchase so that there are no surprises.

In sixty plus years of shooting, I have broken several guns while dry firing.
Including some very expensive firearms.
Some guns, especially some rimfires, and some box-lock doubles, are more suceptible to this kind of damage.

There is a reason for the invention, and continued use of snap-caps.
I have not broken any firing pins since I began to use snap-caps.;)

Cheers.

CZ452 rimfire rifles are safe to dry fire, because the firing pin/bolt is designed so that the tip of the firing pin does not strike the edge of the chamber mouth. So the occasional dryfire at the range is ok, but I do not practice dry fire at home or anywhere on my rifles. See no need for it.

if it broke dry firing a couple times, then surely it would have in firing the pistol, perhaps causing a pre-chamber discharge, potentially hurting you or bystanders. Not good.
