Broken bolt on Springfield Armory Mount

I broke the bolt that screws into the side of the reciever on my M14. How do I go aobut getting a new one?

not quite sure. i think the size is 12-32 unef. i will foster a guess and find a company that sells bolts. ask for that size, and get the hardest one they sell.

The bolt is shouldered though so hard to find at a hardware store. I would call SAI and ask them to send you a new one. They just might hook you up.

You're lucky it was the bolt that broke and not the threads in the receiver that stripped. Its been suggested that the soft bolts are a deliberate strategy to avoid damaging the receiver. That suggests you should try to obtain an original bolt from the manufacturor to avoid stripping the threads on the receiver should a similar over tightening occur again.
