Broken Tavor and XCR

#### happens, is my guess. Just happened to get a carrier that had a weak point.

I'd be tempted to just keep it as is and see if it ever does fail. Then again I didn't lay down my money to buy it. :D

The carrier should not chip like that. There probably a hairline crack somewhere already before the chunk went off, which could not be detected by nake eyes. I will stop firing until the carrier is replaced to be on the safe side.

We have had less problems with the Tavor than the Ars,XCR, and most other guns to date.At least it can still be fired, the XCR needs parts shipped in which is a pain. There is much more wear on the XCR as stated by Armedsask than the Tavor. There is no wear at all on any other parts. The XCR looks like its years old already.

It appears that it was dropped or hit by something at some point, causing a crack in a very thin area. Then firing caused it to break off. This could have happened at the factory, in heat treatment, assembly, who knows. I will discuss it with IWI. That area could actually be removed to eliminate this occurring on future guns.

User error could be an explaination for the wear on the XCR. If the break in of the XCR is followed according to Robinson armaments directions these kind of problems would not occur. You must inspect and relube constantly during breakin period and if you noticed something wasn't right the gun should have been taken down cleaned and relubricated and obviously that wasn't done. So don't blame the rifle for your improper treatment during the break in period.

This should be good....:nest::stirthepot2::kickInTheNuts:

Talked to Mark at CanAmmo and they are replacing bolt and carrier with no issues at no cost.Top notch Warranty on these guns. Not sure what happened as their emo guns have 20000 rnds with no marks at all.
Issue resolved
Dave

Did the emo guns get depressed easily because they weren't understood by all of the other guns since they looked funny?

??? Inspect and re-lube constantly???...for a hard use battle rifle, which the XCR claims to be, and for the price of the bloody thing a good lube prior to and after a range session should be all that's needed........

Are you being serious? You are actually suggesting that firing around 40 rounds and not lubing it during that time caused a spring pin to break? A pin broke during fireing. Lube and inspection would have done sweet #### all.

So this constant lubing, will that solve the issues of bare aluminum showing on the ejection port after 40 rounds? Or the bolt hold open looking like it's been beat on with a hammer? You may like your XCR, but I am less than impressed with them and hate it the more I use it.

Disclaimer: All my complaining is about the XCR. I have no negative issues with the Tavor.

If you don't like it, sell it.....that way none of us has to listen to you piss and moan about the XCR anymore. :rolleyes:

What is an e-clip? Also, I've fired about 1000 rounds through my XCR and I've only had one teency weency problem that I fixed myself. (Chamfering firing pin hole in bolt face). I do agree with Armed Sask that for the money, The main pin that holds the upper to the lower should have more than a small steel retaining pin. I haven't had any problems with it, but it does reek of cheap. But honestly, I do love my XCR. I've completely stripped it and cleaned it after every range firing, and I've not seen any more wear on it than it had when I first got it with 100 rnds off of 223medic here on CGN's EE.

Not that I don't believe you ArmedSask because I know you are always fair and balanced with your opinions :O but when you say

Can you please provide pics. I'm curious to know what to look for and try to avoid with my XCR and it was a pretty expensive pre-wedding self-gift that I would never be allowed ot buy once I get married so I wanna make sure mine lasts.
