Brownells stole my idea

If you can't patent it, I can't see how its IP. I agree 100% it is not patentable - it doesn't pass the "too obvious" test as I call it. I do hold a variety of scientific patents and deal with our business development office regularly.

For future reference, you can file a provisional patent for very cheap that allows you to disclose your idea and see if its feasible to bring it to market. Normally that's done either by starting your own business or by licensing your product.

Then, if someone steals your idea, all you need is money for your law suit. Probably more money than your idea will ever generate! (sucks eh?)

One hundred and thirty years ago, the Springfirld Armory broken shell extractor mounted on the cleaning rod, and had three sets of teeth to catch the end of the broken case.
I am sure that you came up with the idea on your own, and it is workable. But you weren't the first to do so.
I also had to replace the barrel on an M-1 because someone had scored the chamber hooking out a broken case, no doubt with an improvised tool.

I told yah, Snowhunters people were using this design way befor they ever had guns:eek:

And, while you're at it, you should also find out about the risks of defamation.

This is actually a reasonable suggestion.
Brownells has been publicly accused of theft. There is no evidence whatsoever that they did so. Brownells is a large business, in an industry that is concerned about litigation, and no doubt has legal counsel.

That could also be an issue for CGN as well, because the site is being used to make potentially actionable charges against Brownells.

cdngunner, I start to think you and I are related :)

tiriaq, the broken shell extractors on the marked before my invention, did not involve any hooks that went over the lips of the broken shell.

guntech, why would you use a hook and epoxy plug to remove a broken shell, if you, in 1969, already had invented the very efficent rod and the hook broken shell remover that went over the lips of stuck case for easy extraction ?

I would never use epoxy in the chamber of a gun !

I didn't invent it you moron, I simply tried to hook the stuck case out using a hook I made from some spring steel. I was very careful in the shaping of it so it would not dig into the barrel steel but quickly found out some cases stick too tightly for any kind of hooks... and I have seen damaged chambers from hooks.

I didn't invent jamming a new brush into the neck and pulling it back either. With a history of 130 years of separated cases - I don't think there is a "new" method that hasn't been tried - INCLUDING YOURS.

I don't use epoxy in the chamber of the gun, that would prevent the case from being driven out. I use epoxy inside the case only, with the neck plugged so it doesn't enter the bore... and yes you have to use a little skill in placing the epoxy...

What did Brownell's say when you contacted them and complained?... oh - why haven't you called them? Are you expecting they will read this forum and cut you a cheque?...

Bah ... I use a Bic pen to get the busted case out when it cools down.

:runaway: Bic stole MY idea, they're just using it to write stuff with.

I'm in the money now! :D

lol. You guys are hilarious and snowhunter is having fun with you.:)Snowhunter is obviously a genius for creating such a tool and announcing it freely in these fine pages. (love that line BTW):)Monkeys have been fishing bugs and grubs out of stumps for millions of years with sticks with a hook on the end..

I see absolutely no similarity though.:p

Guntech, Brownells cutting me check ? Do'nt get me going on that one, I feel the greed comming out in me, and I am already spending the money on wine, women and songs :)

Zedex , thanks for the kind words :)
