Thinking of ordering from brownells, is it a 100% safe. Meaning will I have problems with US or Can customs. I would hate to order 100$ worth of stuff and have it seized at the border.

Items would be:

Muzzle break
Rails
Ext mag release

Any feedback would be much appreciated
Thanks

They won't ship anything that they are not allowed to export.
A brake might be Significant Military Equipment (SME) and have export controls.
If in doubt, make up your order and call them.

I've ordered from them before. Went off without a hitch. However as said I could see a problem with the muzzle brake

I just received my KSG muzzle brake from them.No problem. CBSA did open it and it was legally exported by Brownells. If you click on special filters on there website it will give you the number of items that can be shipped out of US.Example would be 15 muzzle brakes in total on site.8 of them can be exported.

Thank you.
I just have one muzzle brake and its for a savage fvsr. I would assume it's not that big of a deal, but you never know with the decision makers...

UPDATE:

So I went trough with my order for an extended mag release at Brownells. Looked at the status for my order this morning and it was canceled. So I decided to call and they told me they do not ship that particular item to Canada, really a mag release &?$%/$. Anyways pretty bummed out, I thought I could order some stuff there based on what feedback I had from GNC members. I don't even want to imagine what I can't order if i can't order a simple mag release... Not Brownells fault at all I understand the rules and laws they have to go trough but I'm just frustrated with my first international shopping experience and makes me question how people were able to do it in the past.

The pws mag release that Questar sells is simply awesome!!!!
You can keep your hand on the grip and drop the mag. How many mag release can you do that with?

Yeah! I know there some good one out there, but I wanted the one with the Punisher logo engraved into it.

U have to know if the manufacturer is on the itar list or not otherwise u cant buy jack.

Muzzle brake, flash hider, compensators are no go and its an instant automatic cancelled order

^^^ this

it's not brownell's fault...you place the order...it takes a while for it all to register...had better luck with numrich over the years because of their order dept overseas...in any case...it's best to talk with the international order desk...i ask up front any more if it can be shipped internationally...it's not what it used to be and for those of us who were used to the way things were it's even more frustrating i think...but with patience and learning the ins and outs of homeland security you can usually get what you need...just not on your own terms any more...hang in there, man...but there's a price for all of this and i don't blame the businesses for social paranoia...

Thank goodness Brownell did not go Midway's way with simply no shipping to Canada. Brownell is great.

Thanks Guys,

And like I said in the previous thread, i KNOW it's not Brownells fault. From now on I'll call the intl. sevice desk before I order. BTW they were very helpful, my mom has a house in Florida, makes me wounder if i could have stuff shipped to her place and then have her ship it to me. Wondering about all the hooplla's and if she could get in trouble with stuffs she sends me do. ei: flash hiders, stocks, mag release extentions, barrel srouds ect.

Any ideas if this could be done.

...DON'T involve your mother...NOT cool to have mom spend time in levenworth!!!

(there is NO humour left in CSIS or homeland....)

OUCCHH!!! Ok I will never put my mother in a situation were she could get in trouble. I'm pretty new at this and was just asking, but thanks for making it clear. This is why i like this forum, the information here is very clear.

Thank you.

i know i ordered a couple compensators one day and had my brother who lives in texas send them up.
when i got them i didn't recognize the return address, so when i called my brother he said it wasn't his address it was the the address of the postal outlet that he used.

which i thought was smart, that way if they had a problem with the export they wouldn't give him grief over a $50 part.
if they stopped it i would just be out $50 and not have to worry about him getting into trouble.

silly americans export laws.
i could see if i was ordering a surface to air missile of some sort but a comp for a ruger 10/22????

Now you've posted your brothers crime on a public forum. Wish him luck.
