I am going to make a video on taking the barrel off, and also one for timing the action. The guy on YouTube that has "the best" blr video, is a moron. I had to watch the video on mute and read the sub titles. Its 58 minutes long, and about 8 minutes of it are the actual content of the title.
Excellent Video . You know what your doing
I think you need a 338 Federalget that barrel rebored and rechamber it

Did you already decide which caliber you will go with?
There is a BLR 358 Winchester take off barrel currently on Gun-Post.....I like the .338 Federal, I am going to keep my eye out for a take off .338 barrel. Or maybe I just get the barrel done like you suggest. Idk yet. For now, I'm putting a barrel on and chambering it to 708ai, so I can shoot this thing lol.
Gun-post, or the EE?There is a BLR 358 Winchester take off barrel currently on Gun-Post.....![]()
My apologies, it was in fact the EE. Although it did not look great as you stated......Gun-post, or the EE?
I saw the one in EE, but the bore looks terrible as well. I thought about it, but I don't want another dud.
It also looks like it's from the pre81 blr, so I would potentially have to rechamber it anyways.

However when I saw it yesterday, I immediately thought of your project.
I just searched twenty some pages on Gun-Post trying to find it for you, then realized it was on the Gunnutz EE.![]()
For now, just 708ai. In the future, probably .338 Federal.
I think if you were to rebarrel a long action blr, in a short action cartridge, it would feed reliably without doing anything. Just dont slowly rack the lever. I find the blr i have does not like to go slow. It's not a controlled round feed, so I dont think it would matter.IMO, the short action BLR is king among those rifles.
I was wondering if a long action could be timed to do (operate reliably) a short action cartridge...
