Any experience out there with this rifle?Looks well made and I really like the takedown option.Rough trigger? Thanks.

Hey there;

I love my BLR takedown - I have it in .308 / Grey laminite. It isn't cheap, but it is very well made, great weight / size, very robust action. I pack it up north in the browning takedown case to my cabin on the weekends as a general 'camp gun', and use it in deer season. Open sights are pretty good (I like them way better than the 'buckhorn' style). The fibre front insert is very visable - beats the heck out of a brass bead front post.

I've had a scope on it and it holds the zero pretty well even if mounted on the reciever as opposed to the scout style mount. No worries there. It's not a bench gun. The trigger is firm (6lbs) but not rough or gritty. I particularly like the BLR half #### safety with the fold down hammer. Takes a little getting used to (as there is no other safety) but I like the mechanica feel of it - You know exactly when it is on or off. And the detachable magazine is very easy to deal with as opposed to a tubular.

Only drawback is that the straight stocked models do not have sling swivels. You have to install them yourself or have a gunsmith do it. I use a no-swivel rubber sling.

I'm a big fan and looking for one in .358 non takedown to add to my collection.

Have a pistol-grip/blued one in 308, love the takedown feature. I wouldn't want one without it. Trigger is heavy, yes, but I only notice it at the range. Took my first bear with it last spring, didn't even notice the trigger then!

I like the half-####/folded hammer as well. Easy to see the state of the gun, and you can pull the hammer to full #### as you shoulder.

Thanks everybody-just learning the stuff..hence the 2 threads.BLR is suppose to be accurate and sturdyas well .Looks like taken down it would fit into backpack or top pack on a packhorse.Anyways it seems versatile to me.What can be done with the trigger? The hammer settings seems interesting.

Not sure you could do much with the trigger - The break is clean and there is very little uptake. I never even thought about mine until a guy mentioned it to me a few months back that they were heavy. Try one out, I think you'll be satisfied.

On another note, I've owned the older steel receiver model as well as the newer aluminum receiver. The steel is nice - a little smaller. But, the action is improved on the newer ones. Not as slick, but certainly more solid and I think this contributes to accuracy.

I heard that in spite of the trigger it shoots like a bolt action, in terms of accuracy.Does it hold its p.o.i.?
