I've had a slight sore spot on the web of my hand from the hammer before but never blood that I can recall.
I just purchased the last new Browning Hi Power that Canada's Gun Store had. Perhaps the last new in Canada? Either way, I hesitated a long time before the purchase because it is a hefty price (over $2000 with taxes). I always wanted a Browning Hi Power and this thread did help take my decision. I hope it's as sweet as some say it is!
My Girsan MC P35 arrived yesterday and it is a very good copy of my mkIII Hi-power. Most of the parts seem like they will interchange though the machining on the slide rails (not sure if its the slide or the frame or both) is a bit of an interference fit when I try swapping slides between them. Once the Girsan is broken in I'll try it again. The Girsan is the only copy of the mkIII that I've seen on the market.
I was really debating buying this new hi-power. Some hi-power traditionalists did not like it because it is not a redo of the traditional hi-power and looked different. Others were saying they like the fact that it has improved previous well-known hi-power issues. I went with a Girsan hi-power clone instead as it more closely resembled the traditional hi-power and it was 1/2 the price. Also liked the traditional look better. However, I would love to compare the two side by side. Regardless of old v new, I am sure you will enjoy it.
Isn't there a Springfield Armory Hi Power also, but without the magazine disconnect?
Yes. Not sure if they ever made it up here.
RDSC had a Springfield P35 that sold quickly. They also had a couple of the new FN High Power that uses a more modern locking system using a wider square sig like barrel vs. the original slimmer lugs.
