I love the look of the Hi Power but I know nothing about the performance.

- Is it easy to shoot?
- How is the recoil? (vs Glock or Grand Power Km7)
- Reliabilities? etc.

thx

Fantastic looking, soft shooting and extremely reliable. Older ones (pre MK3) can be sensitive to hollow points.

BHP is my favorite of all my guns.

I agree with you. I love the look on the BHP. Can't find any gun out there looks better that.
Is it a good gun for competition? (Not in IPSC. Just regular club match)

Thx

There are good reasons why it is an enduring classic. Get one and experience it so you don't have to wonder. You don't have to keep it forever, nor does it mean you can't/won't enjoy and appreciate other guns.

The fact that the gun has been in production and virtually unchanged (some minor modifications) since it's introduction in 1935 says lots about it. It is or has been in use by more than 80 countries worldwide since then. It is also one of the few hi-cap handguns that fit smallish hands comfortably. I have put over 6150rds (mostly reloads) thru mine and have yet to have a single malfunction, so needless to say they are above average in the reliability department.

About the only negative thing with the pistol is the factory trigger pull...but that can be improved pretty easily!

I think it's too bad the pistol hasn't gone threw some minor changes. it really is pretty much the same as it was released back in WW2. Look at the 1911 - it has changed with the times.

"If it ain't broken don't fix it!"

The biggest improvement the Hi-Power has recieved since its debut is better sights and a possibly a better extractor.

The 1911 design has recieved the same needed improvement in sights and again, on some models, a better extractor. Everything else that has been added to it is pretty much cosmetic and of very little use/benefit in the real world!

Not really:

-External extractor
-Improved sights
-Firing pin block
-Ambi safety
-Capable of feeding HP bullets

Like the 1911, there are a number of gunsmithing shops that customize Hi Powers including Novak's, Cylinder and Slide, and Jim Garthwaite.
