Thinking about a Hi Power, don't see much talk about them here. Looking for the good and bad on them. How do they compare to a CZ 85 Combat, the price is close to the same. I'm gonna buy one or the other.

A lot of people seem to like them, most of them like 1911 too…

I’m not a fan, just don’t like an the idea of SA 9mm in general...(it's a 21st century after all).

Btw it was a first high capacity 9mm handgun.

I've got two and like them a lot. They point very well and shoot accurate enough that I used mine for my first IPSC match and got 91%.

Bad side, as mentioned single action (though I don't see it as bad, just different) the trigger can suck hard unless you take out the mag safety. Some folks don't like the size of the controls like the old style safety, (fine for me) but these can be changed out.

I shot my buddy's Hi Power, just to be polite.
Now I own one. Points/feels great!!
I may even sell my Glock!!

Edited before beer consumption...

I adore High-Powers and have never fired one I didn't like. On the other hand CZ-75 was built with many of the strenghts that the hi-power introduced. Both superb shooters so you really can't go wrong either way.

I've got two BHP MkIII's. One in 9mm and the other in .40 S&W. Love 'em both. Both are keepers. :p

Anyone who doesn't get the SA auto pistol needs more time practicing...

You'd be well served with a CZ, though, too.

High Powers? Did someone mention High Powers? There is no pistol I can shoot as well as fast as I can a High Power (HP). The 40 S&W HP is the softest shooting 40 I have fired. Regards, Richard :D

BHP is a "professionals" gun

After all these years of many makes and models of 9mm they haven't improved much over the BHP in terms of functioning, add in ergonomics and it's a slam dunk (IMHO).

Superior to the 1911 design imho. The CZ is essentially a copy.
The 85 has ambi controls, but that is essentially the only thing going for it.
If you are a lefty, I'd recommend getting used to the right handed controls of most pistols.
Once you have trained enough, it's doubtful you would switch back, or change your use from pistol to pistol.
I'm a lefty, and have a CZ85, still go through drills like I would any other pistol.

My bigest beefs with the CZ is the slide is smallish, and the controls suck.
Without a decocker, I really see no point to the DA on the 85.
At the end of the day, I think if you took both and tweeked them slightly, you'd be happier with a High Power.
Also, I think if you look around, you should be able to get the HP for slightly less $$$$

Gunslinger, just curious how is BHP is a "professionals" gun :? IMO no SA gun is perfect...

as for BHP egro's this HP grip is just akward for me to hold (too large), while Beretta fits me great...
