Purchased what is supposed to be a Browning SA22, but on examination I'm starting to wonder if it is. The rifle is parkerised with a steel receiver. The barrel has the browning stamps on it and made in Japan but the receiver has no serial # or any other marks although it is engraved like the Brownings are.
Did I just get hosed?

Hard to say but I doubt it.
Anodized is weird though? Post a picture.
No serial number on the front where it mates to the barrel?

Looks like thick tremclad.... hopefully it's a durable paint!
I'm guessing it was in poor condition for it to get that paint job.
Was it sold as painted and without pictures?

Parkerized and then painted hopefully.
If you got it cheap and it shoots great have at er..... still buddy should have been a bit more upfront and perhaps you should have looked at the pictures.

How much did you pay?

No serial number here?

Maybe it's an antique or the serial numbers got lost in the transformation. ( they almost look visible on the upper right corner of the receiver in one of your pictures)
Should be a good beater if it shoots well.

Agreed, looks like paint to me? And, while I am guessing, I would also agree that the only reason to paint it would be to refurbish it???

And, it's not a Norinco.

Cheers

Pics in the add were of the whole rifle no closeups showing poor finish.
Ad is still up.

I'm guessing that the seller didn't do the work and also doesn't know the difference between parkerized and painted.
You yourself referred to it as anodized in your OP so I can only assume you are new to gunfinishes.
Browning never parkerized any of the SA 22's from the factory so right off the bat it's obviously a re-finished gun.

If you paid less then $300 and it shoots great I wouldn't worry about it.... the seller has some history so he will probably be fair if he made an honest (uninformed) mistake.
