These are of a fellow forum member on the mg42 board. I know what some of you will think... "omg mega bubba", but where gun parts are plentiful (USA), you can appreciate these kinds of specialty projects.

I'm talking about the MG47's, as they have been nicknamed by the gun community down south (mg42 + ak47). Quite a fascinating build anyways, i like it. Only wish i had the parts to do it :(...

He's also done a magnificent job at restoring the m53, mg42, and bren from cut up piles of scrap! Anyone who has attempted to TIG weld 1/4" wide gaps crudely cut into 1/8" sheet metal can surely appreciate this work!

I have this really awesome K98 I am thinking of turning into a nifty hunting rig! ;) Should throw that clunky heavy wood in the fire, shorten that barrel and install some nice lyman peeps on it too!! Might even have to put a nice big eraser butt pad on the end with a beautiful white spacer as well!!

What do you think Recce?? :D

By the looks of it, they are post-war Yugoslavian clones, don't get too worked up :D.

Yeah, the barrel shroud on the two "mg42-looking" guns match that of a yugo M53 clone. Note the AA sites not drilled.

I would assume he would not waste precious german parts on the bubba'd mg47's either , im certain he just used up yugo parts if that helps some of you sleep at night ;). Brown grips threw me off on the mg42 next to the Bren, looks like a german grip mixed onto a mix-match german/yugo gun.

You are killing me Desert_Fox. Like Skirsons I can't stand bubbas. If you want to destroy a gun with a bunch of mods, buy one that they still make. They aren't making any more Russian SKS', Mosins, Enfield, K98, MG42 and so on and so on.

You guys know I am kidding right?? :p

Though I have removed shellac from RC K98's and G43's, all to skirsons chagrin!! :D I think I just do it now to bug him actually....
 
Completely disregarding the bubba aspects... he's pretty damn good at fabricating and redesigning. I like em. Can't really tell what he did with that last FAL in the line... looks normal but rebuilt to me...

That MG47 has a cool look to me.... can't put my finger on it, but looks aggressive :p
