Bubba got ahold of my Mosin and refinnished it :P Sure this is abit differnt.

Well, there were Red Russians and White Russians. Maybe there were Blue Russians who were cold. snicker.
You sure it's stain? Anything on top of the stain? You can sometimes stain over stain but think in terms of the Colour Wheel. As in blue and red makes purple. You can try bleaching it out first.

I saw a Mosin that was painted gloss black and then all the small things like the barrel bands, trigger guard, but plate, were all polished down to the metal and clear coated. He called it the Punishers Mosin. Looks pretty cool as far as bubba mosins go.
 
What happen to that thread were bubba cut a few inches off his Mosin stock to fix his short eye relief scope mounted on a long eye relief "scout" mount?

He also cut a few inches off a busttstock from a completely different gun and glued it to his cut Mosin stock. He also installed a... pistol grip? that was probably carved from a tree branch with a bowie knife.

Someone has to have screen shots of that piece of work.
