Budget 9mm?

Picked up a new one a few years back; after 200 rounds and lots of dry firing, the springs are just fine. Grips were poor; I put a set of CZ over-molded rubber grips, and that made it. Holster was hard to find (slide profile is different than CZ, but got an Uncle Mikes that works great. I have handled and shot CZs and they are nice, but the Nork version is just as accurate, the trigger, once broke in is just as good. It is a keeper.

My understanding is that it's more a direct clone of a Tanfoglio than a CZ so maybe holsters made for those?

Bersa TPR9. I have the original and it's an excellent DA/SA pistol.

Made in Argentina for police and military issue.
Under $600.
Magazines are under $40.
Full ambidextrous controls.

I've seen Jericho 941s and Beretta 92s in various finishes as Police Surpluses. Just be careful of your choice on some Jericho 941s, as some of them are Single Action Only. And because of the polygonal barrel, if you are reloading or planning to, Cast Bullets are not Polygonal Barrel friendly. Jerichos, Tanfoglios and Glocks uses Polygonal Barrel. EE for CZ 75/85 seems to be a popular choice. Glock is like the HONDA Civic with tons of upgrades. Norincos are decenly priced, new.

I have a all black sd9ve and just did the spring kit today. I like the pistol its very reliable and it's a smith and wesson for under $400 you can't go wrong and the spring kit lightens the pull of the trigger roughly 2 lbs. I recommend it as a beginner pistol on a budget. But to each their own and I'm relatively new to pistols so take my word with a grain of salt.

My first handgun was the $99 chinese 9mm tokarev Canada Ammo brought in back in 2009. It did the job and I had a lot of fun with it. If you're really on a budget as long as it goes bang you should spend your money on ammo and have fun until you can afford better.
Right now your best bet is either a tokarev or np22 like most here are recommending and lots of ammo.

I thought about the surplus Jerichos, as I have a .40 Jerico full size in steel and I like it a lot, but these surplus ones are, I believe S/A only; and so far no clear answers about how add double action capability.
